Xero shoes are popular and more reasonably priced though I have no experience with them myself.

Ugh same. I decided to upgrade my very uncomfortable sleeping pad recently which led me to the ultralight subreddit. I went from not having a clue how much my bag weighed to a 10lb base weight, tarp camping, a $400 quilt, 27oz backpack, making my own gear. I don't even want to count how much I've spent in the last year.

Everybody blaming shrinkflation and nobody mentioning how terribly low salmon stocks are right now.

I see no mention of what their fish are eating. One issue with farming carnivorous fish is that they need fish to eat and often that comes from fish pellets which are generally small fish caught in the ocean. So fish farming such as this ends up not really farming at all, but rather turning wild fish into farmed fish.

I've seen no mention of forest management in this thread. I'm no expert, and I realise this issue is a few concurrent problems, but it is, at least, partially Canada's fault for allowing clearcut forestry methods on such a broad scale. Old growth forests are somehwat resistant to fires. The undergrowth burns, but many trees do not. The "forests" planted by the forestry industry are essentially monocultures and they burn hot and burn fast.
