i find myself posting on non-hexbear sites less and less these days. The thing that's doing it for me is not that I don't want to be exposed to liberal ideas, it's that when I disagree with these ideas - often with citations - I get some nonsensical snark and when I ask for clarification I get "keep thinking on it" or some other condescention.

So, I don't know why I bother. I used to do it to kill time and entertain myself, now I do it out of habit. But I'm getting tired of having these dumb arguments online when these people are clearly happy just calling Trump Drumpf and talking about his random legal issues day in and day out.

There are absolutely scientists and mathematicians and physicists involved in all of this. Software engineers don't have the math background to make this stuff happen by themselves. Software engineers are the ones plumbing things together. Being a scientist doesn't shield you from OpenAI holding a fat 7-figure check in front of your face and you saying "yes daddy"

There's no wrong way to play a video game.

I think people just need to be realistic about their goals. Are you trying to beat the game eventually on Normal? Are you trying to beat it eventually on Trial of Iron? Are you trying to get a server first? region first? world first? Soul level 1? No hit?

For cooperative pve games it's frankly disrespectful if you are screwing around in a top raiding guild, for example. And you'll get booted and deserve it. For single player games who cares if your SL1 run never works out because you can't be arsed to use an effective build?

In any case they tend to be pretty condescending and incurious. There’s also a distinct bombastic writing style that I find pretty grating.
