This China Has Billionaires article someone linked deep into the replies is great.

The party’s overarching aim, though, has remained consistent: to ensure that the private sector, and individual entrepreneurs, do not become rival players in the political system. The party wants economic growth, but not at the expense of tolerating any organised alternative centres of power.

This is a really interesting observation to me (and probably obvious to others here) because I hadn't thought of it that way before. Like how bourgeois governments eagerly put down leftist movements, a communist government needs to eagerly put down bourgeois movements.

eh, i think it's more like appreciate the people around you while you have them because life happens, people move away, people die.

Exactly. There are also ETFs that have specific voting objectives too. For example there are some pro-environment ETFs with the goal of buying enough shares in petrochemical companies to force them to take on more environmental policies.

it’s Frieren. She is an elf who has been alive for at least 1000 years. The anime takes place about 80 to 100 years after she and a group of companions defeat the demon king who i guess is the big bad guy in that world.

The show is really about the fleeting nature of relationships. She is travelling with two young people and watches them grow up. She also sees people she knew as young people grow old and die. They meet people on the road that they will never see again or if they do it will be decades in the future.

It’s a good one for sure.

I wonder if we'll actually start to see real slums pop up in the west.

forgot the word "cargo" before "vessel". Looks like they're actually building these things though so it'll be interesting to see if they work

Removing cars from urban areas means lower carbon emissions, less air pollution, and fewer road traffic accidents

Not to mention how much quieter it is.
