A conservative forum is a forum run by conservatives for conservatives and limits itself to conservative positions

Says who?! It can mean whatever you define it to mean. You’re just making stuff up, you’re no authority.

It's almost like I was saying what I mean by conservative forum.

It seems you’ve changed your tune:

  1. In response to the question “The instance is never an appropriate context and any such discussion whatsoever is prohibited?”: “Yes, …

It certainly looks like that when you cut my response off.

I'm done with this discussion, you're not engaging in good faith and what you want from this place stands at odds with what the majority of feddit.uk's users want this place to be. There has always been action on bigotry, you failing to notice doesn't mean this place was ever some free speech absolutist debate club.

Is this a reaction to the new TOS?

A conservative forum is a forum run by conservatives for conservatives and limits itself to conservative positions, feddit.uk is demonstrably not this. Feddit.uk is not many things, it's not a conservative forum, it's not a socialist forum, it's not a biking forum. It's a general purpose discussion forum that can touch on topics like conservativism, socialism or biking. This is a descriptive not prescriptive statement and I don't see how a reasonable person would describe this place differently. I'm not going to list all the things this place is not as that's an infinity long list.

Again, this place has always had rules on what isn't allowed, including 'no transphobia'. Polite bigotry is still bigotry, do you think we should allow race realists if they mind their Ps and Qs correctly? There are many who feel their bigotry — weather that be racism, sexism, homophobia — isn't 'unreasonable', but even tolerant Britain doesn't let them inject these believes wherever, social spaces like pubs and community events still limit what can take place in them. I don't see why we should be more accepting of transphobia just because it's more socially acceptable at the moment.

'Philosophical discussion of trans issues' is such a non-statment, say what you actually mean instead of hiding behind such meaningless rhetoric. The only things these guidelines ask you to do is not promote fear or hatred of trans people and that you aren't allowed to say that a trans person's gender identity is less valid than a cis person's. These aren't unreasonable asks and I wonder what reasonable 'philosophical discussion' this excludes, unless you're just looking for 'civil' ways of calling a trans man a woman.

Call me a dinosaur, but I actually prefer written reviews. Like, I don't need 20 minutes+ of talking about something to know if I should buy it or not.

One channel I will shout out though is Graeldon because I think the gimmick of reviewing every Steam game in alphabetical order is quite funny.

conservatives aren’t welcome.

That's a very dishonest reading of what I wrote, but not surprising coming from you. This not being a conservative forum isn't the same as conservatives not being welcome, I believe we even have some around. But they still have to follow the rules.

This is getting very tiresome for what is a very little ask, don't be transphobic. This has been a rule on the site literally from inception.

As MPs, Adrian and I are already speaking out in parliament every day, challenging injustice and bringing the voice of grassroots campaigns into the parliamentary system. We’re insurgents with integrity, campaigners with a platform in the Commons.

The most prominent thing Ramsay has done since getting elected is getting in the news for some stupid take against pylons. One of the most important things a Green Party leader should be concerned with is getting the Greens into the national conversation, and Ramsay is just either incapable or unwilling to do the work to actually do that.

We believe the Green party can and must take on Reform and win. Not by aping the divisive “populist” rhetoric of Farage, but by connecting with the broadest possible range of people and showing that Green policies embody their aspirations for a fairer country and a livable future.

Reform have managed to get more seats in 7 years as the Greens have got in 34, and are projected to gain hundreds of seats at the next election while the Greens projected gains are ~2. But sure, it's the Greens who will have a pivotal say if the next Parliament is hung.

Now you're just moving the goal posts. You claimed the article was AI generated and assumed it was talking about a separate entity also called Matrix, when neither of those things are true. I also didn't 'just quote something', I quoted the above article.

But fine:

Oh for sure, Fallout 3 Geoguesser would be hard. Idk, I just never had a problem navigating them, even if they were a bit samey.

The article shortens venture capital to VC. It also didn't confuse the Matrix Foundation with a VC firm of the same name, it's talking about Element (formerly Riot). Like, the article says this in pretty simple English, I'm genuinely confused how you could've missed it:

In roughly the beginning, there was two organizations that came out of the project: The Matrix Foundation and New Vector Ltd / Riot / Element. The idea was for New Vector Ltd to carry out the necessary work and bring in the necessary funding for the Matrix Foundation to thrive. Or well, so I've been told.

They had multiple funding rounds lead by the likes of status.im, Automattic, the AI and Web3 company protocol labs and others; You get the gist, lots of VC and similar funding also a questionable amount of “Web3” and ~~bullshit generation~~ AI. Element was then tasked with using that to build the software that would power Matrix.

You'd really think people would look at the state of the world and try to wash their hands of responsibility, not take credit. Just how out of touch is Mr child exploitation.

It's a small comfort that even Twitter is giving this take the reception it deserves.

Comparing women to a chatbot is definitely derogatory to the chatbot from capital-G Gamers, so even the most exaggerated joke is running hard against Poe's law.

Fallout 3. The criticism is absolutely fair*, but it was the first RPG I ever played and I'm still very fond of it.

* I never got the 'metros are hard to navigate' criticism, I never had that issues. Most of them are pretty linear.

Notable dunce Sam Altman has graced us with his new GPT model: a version that, in his telling, can write pretty good short stories. Now, while we might have reasonable grounds to doubt that, considering some of his prior claims, we're lucky enough to find ourselves with actual evidence in this case, in the form of the story.

Reader, it is not good. In fact, I'd argue seriously that My Immortal, the notoriously awful Harry Potter fanfiction, is a better piece of writing than the story Altman's AI tooling produced, and I can back this up.

A Reform UK general election candidate who said Hitler was “brilliant” at inspiring people and described Bashar al-Assad as “gentle by nature” is now in charge of the party’s vetting process.

Jack Aaron’s comments about the Nazi leader and Syrian dictator came to light last year when he stood for Reform in the Welwyn Hatfield constituency. He also claimed Vladimir Putin’s use of force in Ukraine was “legitimate”.

Aaron made the comments as part of a pseudoscientific theory of personality types. He is the president of the self-styled World Socionics Society – a group promoting the idea that there are 16 personality types.

However, while he was one of many Reform candidates whose comments caused controversy and led to many being sacked, he is now head of vetting at Reform UK.

The role includes scouring prospective candidates’ social media outputs and advising them on what should be deleted.

The former leader of Reform UK in Wales will stand trial next year, accused of accepting bribes to make statements in the European Parliament that would benefit Russia.

Nathan Gill, 51, from Llangefni on Anglesey, is charged with eight counts of bribery and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery.

At a hearing in the Old Bailey in London on Friday, defence barrister Clare Ashcroft indicated that the former Wales MEP intended to enter not guilty pleas.

A trial date of 29 June 2026 was set.

The court previously heard Mr Gill, who was a UKIP and later a Brexit Party MEP between 2014 and 2020, was alleged to have conspired with former Ukrainian politician Oleg Voloshyn between 1 January 2018 and 1 February 2020.

Mr Gill stood in the dock and spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.

He was alleged to have been tasked by Mr Voloshyn on at least eight occasions to make specific statements in return for money.

Mr Voloshyn, a co-defendant in the case, is a former politician from the pro-Russian Opposition Platform for Life party. He is not thought to be in the UK.

An earlier court hearing heard the statements, made in the European Parliament and in opinion pieces to news outlets such as 112 Ukraine, were "supportive of a particular narrative" which would "benefit Russian regarding events in Ukraine".
