The only foreigners in my kids class are Palestinian. It's otherwise all Norwegians. But you also have to bare in mind that it wasn't uncommon for effeminate men to have it "beaten out of them" or lesbians to be raped to "correct their behaviour" until very recently. So it was in people's best interests to keep it secret. I remember that even 20 years ago in the more left leaning cities in Britain people were getting put in the hospital for being gay/ trans.
There are no more LGBTQ people today than there were back in the 40s. They're just not being jailed for it. As society becomes more accepting more people feel safe coming out. Even Alan Turing was tossed into a cell for being gay, and he arguably led to Britain winning world war 2. Whereas in my kids school class the only ones who have a problem with it are the Palestinians. And the 20% includes bi people who would have flown easily under the radar back in the day

My mother was in a similar situation when my gran died, but her sister was the one who got the house. My mother thought it should have been split 50/50, but her sister did do all of the care work and was closer to her generally. They got into some sort of argument and neither has spoken to the other since. It's been over 2 decades. I've asked my mother about it and only got vague answers.
