Yes, your instance will only 'know' about communities that you have searched for from your instance. Once you search for some, they will appear under "All" communities. However your instance will only receive updates for those communities if at least 1 person on your instance has subscribed to them.

Thumbnails are stored locally, I believe.

Interestingly enough, I read a thread about this yesterday - https://beehaw.org/post/214684

Odd. It worked the first time I tried it. It showed your post first and then the original post showed up a few seconds later.

For that post specifically - You copy the post URL and search for it on your instance (using the magnifying glass icon).

Another way would be to search for that community (in your example, !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml) the same way and that will allow you to enter that community from your own instance and reply to threads there.

I would suggest looking back through what packages were installed / updated / removed when you performed the -Syu - maybe that will give you a clue.

I tend to use Ubuntu most of the time - because I am familiar with it. Then again I have been using Linux for over 25 years and am a professional Linux Admin - so I am familiar with most of them!

A bunch (47 containers at present)... Won't list them here as its kind of redundant with what a lot of other people are running. My latest is Lemmy (lemmy.nine-hells.net).
