Naw, the poster should have included more info in their post. That was a result of their low effort.

The people responding are responding to a Lemmy post, in accordance with the info offered. They are not on whatever news site commenting in response to the an article there.

As a rule I do not click through to articles. Posts are not just ad space for media platforms. Include some relevant info in the title and post body. Then link to the article for reference.

There are many who won't click though, but there are a few exceptions to the rule. Like linking a long academic article for discussion.

If somebody comments to the subject of a post, as it's presented in the OP, their response is not stupid.

If the comment seems out of place because of the information left out of the OP then the fault of the confusion lies on the poster for their low effort post.

Even for an accidental discharge?

Also, protesting provides training for organizing and brings up voices and leaders that are needed for future actions to be successful.

The leaders we read about during past revolts didn't just appear on the front lines magically. In the past many revolts took years or decades to transform the territory. With sometimes several generations of leaders playing important parts in the process.

I'd be interested to know if that's true.

I've seen plenty of both misandry and misogyny.

I've only seen misandry so far on this thread.

It would be pretty upsetting if who saw what was deliberate in order to manipulate the viewers.

Girls do this shit too, and it's not new.

The general message to 'be good to each other' is very old, and has to be told often. The internet provides for a lot of anonymity and seperation from consequence, so allows for people to say shitty things without the moderation that's more common in public and personal spaces.

It's not surprising at all that there is tons of men or women online talking shit about each other. What is surprising is that the platforms it happens on don't just delete that crap as a rule. Many will let it fester and negatively effect the community because people interact with it, and interaction means ad hits.

We need laws that make monetizing such content illegal, to encourage it's quick removal.

Just bitching about having to see it isn't good enough.

Individualism is not an American value

E pluribus unum.

I prefer an income cap, 1 million a year, at a standard tax percentage, then all income above 1mil is taxed 100%. Capital gains are treated as income. Any profit is.

But trading value that has already been taxed is not counted as income. So selling a 10mil house for 11mil is only taxed 1mil, as the 10mil was already taxed as income.

Same for corps, but with a 10mil profit cap a year.

The low cap discourages businesses from merging into massive conglomerates that control too much of anything.

We don't actually need national or international businesses.

Of course I also approve of making for-profits outright illegal. So the cap wouldn't even be relevant for businesses anyway, as they'd all be public services, and any 'profits' they made a year would just be put towards more, or better services, or improved employee compensation packages, or subsidizing costs in the future until prices balance back out, or refunds (all depending on the business/industry).

I'll donate a blade to lower any cost concerns.

Some rope too.

Anyone else?

Anyone have some trees they're willing to have milled for the frame?

It's also important to date the new ones when activated, so that they can be replaced at the appropriate time 10yrs from now, even if it's not you doing it.
