That looks strangely like a long range rifle that c would be well served putting up a prepared defence or neutralising an unsuspecting target. Neither of which are aligned with home defence.

For home defence I want a shotgun. High lethality that doesn't go bouncing down the road looking for another victim.

Excuse the ignorance, what's the difference?

Europe has this. You should too.

Um but wtf is all the water draining to? The work surfaces?

Also imagine knocking this over. Fml.

What about a foggy day?

[–] el_abuelo@programming.dev 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The other day a dude was using his phone on speaker in the gym. Just sat there on the machine casually having a conversation on the phone and not doing a whole lot of working out.

I asked him if he could use the phone normally and made the "hand to face" gesture and he just mumbled a "yeah" and took it off speaker.

Now if he had considered my request outlandish, presumably there would have been a little friction in this exchange? But no....he knew exactly what he was doing, why it was annoying, and immediately how to remedy it.

Why the fuck are people using speakerphone instead of the God damn normal speaker to have their conversations? They know it's annoying.

Presumably someone grabbed him and then they grd the rope through and round. Adding more rope and belts as more folks arrived.

Thank you that's very helpful! I'm pretty handy with software so not troubled by that, but I am lazy outside of work so I'll likely follow your envision advice! But still sounds like a fair bit to do so I suspect I'll kick it down the road till WMR finally goes.

Thanks again!

How are you getting on with VR? I have a Reverb G2 and if I can play Elite and DCS on Linux I'm basically sold at this point.

I really want a new headset but nothing beats the G2 right now, without giving money to Meta which I refuse to do.

If anyone needs me, I'll be fighting for humanity in Sol o7

I'm going to move away from lastpass because the user experience is pretty fucking shit. I was going to look at 1pass as I use it a lot at work and so know it. However I have heard a lot of praise for BitWarden and VaultWarden on here and so probably going to try them out first.

My questions are to those of you who self-host, firstly: why?

And how do you mitigate the risk of your internet going down at home and blocking your access while away?

BitWarden's paid tier is only $10 a year which I'm happy to pay to support a decent service, but im curious about the benefits of the above. I already run syncthing on a pi so adding a password manager wouldn't need any additional hardware.
