Yeah I kind of agree. Their mellow side certainly seems to outweigh the metal parts from what I've listened to. I guess the artist felt that was the best way to express what they wanted to express, even if you and I don't really "get" that part of their vision.

FWIW you can play completely ranged in the the Dark Souls games. DS2 has binoculars which let you treat it like a FPS with spells if you so choose. It's a lot of fun imo. Bows are also viable.

Unfortunately I don't know of anything else like that besides Remnant.

I think part of it is that metal can be very genre-fluid compared to other styles of music, so when people hear the metal parts they're quick to accept it as that. One of the first things new metal listeners learn is that there are a thousand subgenres.

I kind of loosely place them in the metal category in my mind. Even though they're really a lot more like Bon Iver with the occasional metal passage.

Tool - Parabol / Parabola

Tool - Intermission / Jimmy (although probably among their less popular songs)

Yeah, it seems like there are a lot of imitations, but very few that nail it. Never played LotF, but it makes my bullshit detector go off. Same with a lot of other soulslikes.

I think with the success of the genre and apparent difficulty to execute it well there is a kind of sweet spot or evolutionary path for games that get the soulslike elements right but aren't trying to just be clones. Tunic and Death's Door come to mind. Unsouled is a recent one I played whose combat felt great, but wasn't trying too hard. Same with Tails of Iron. I think those games all borrow from souls AND other influences enough to stand as their own new ideas and not just souls guy in armour game #1246383.

Not sure what else to say other than hopefully we get some new ideas that take the best of souls and other things to make something new and quality. And hopefully Fromsoft keeps putting out solo games on all platforms.

Dota without question

Came here to say this. Over 4 years clean now. There were a lot of good times with the squad. And I guess it gave me a relatively high APM which helps at work.

Norway-schmorway! C'mon down to swamp prison!

Steam is having a Racing Fest sale until August 4th and I thought I might like to try. I used to play a lot of Gran Turismo 2 and 3 back in the day, especially the rally modes.

Any recommendations for me? Prefer anything under $10, no EA games, no Ubisoft games, and realistic although it's not as important.

I'm also interested in Garfield Kart - Furious Racing if anyone has an opinion on that.

For those people you want to know that you care enough about them to wish a good morning, but not enough to type out the full words

"But we also think that the responsibility for the safety of [low-income people] — and let's face it, it's low-income people who have this problem — that's a responsibility for society at large, for everyone, not just for the people who happen to own the buildings where these people make their homes."

Mine was like the meme; sound recorder and a beige stick microphone put up to an old used Fender practice amp, and a no-name brand guitar from the pawn shop. We've come a long way.

Miyazaki plz

Homemade crust, pepperoni, red peppers.

The crust was just flour, water and a little salt. About 1.5cm thick. Once the dough ball was consistent I coated it with more flour to prevent sticking and then pressed it down into shape.

Pepperoni was sliced off a tube. It looks kind of greasy, but it wasn't too much, and I really like that it curled up a bit. I put the oven on high broil near the end to get it to crisp up a bit.
