Ooh, Perturbator! I can definitely see that. I was never able to really mesh with his music though

That sounds excellent! I actually just finished reading an essay that made industrial music sound like the natural cyberpunk successor to punk rock, so this is perfect timing!

Their writing style tends to be too rambling and short on clarity and punch for me (compare my explanation of Cyberpunk in the sidebar with the essay of theirs I shared), but there's still a lot of interesting stuff on their site. Wish I could get their RSS feed to work.

I'm really excited for the possible addition of something like cyberpsychosis, or at least cyberware limits with the in-world excuse for those limits being cyberpsychosis. It has the potential to make the player feel less like some kind of truly special "chosen one" who's exempt from the rules everyone else has to follow and wins because of it, and more like just another punk on the street, who makes it — or doesn't — in spite of that. It would also add a real sense of fear and worry and downsides to balance out all the chrome you can get, which might balance the game (and the power fantasy aspect) a bit more.

Using GraphineOS on a Pixel 6. It's very nice! I haven't had any problems with it.

I personally prefer a self - hosted Revolt instance. It's not federated or anything, but it's fast and nearly identical to Discord with some extra nice features, and it has a first party docker container so it's extremely easy to set up. I didn't go with Matrix or anything like that because it's harder to set up a natural system where you have a server, but then that server has many channels, and that's very important to how my friend group communicates and hangs out.

This article is also really good: https://www.science.org/content/article/scientist-racing-discover-how-gender-transitions-alter-athletic-performance-including

It goes into detail on a real world athletics study (instead of studies on individual factors like muscle mass or grip strength that may not be representative at all of sport performance) in running that shows that after transitioning, trans women perform the same relative to their cis women peers as they did to their cis male peers prior to transitioning — i.e., same place in the distribution curve.

Yup, that's honestly the history of the world — people giving their autonomy and independence and concern for what's really going on in the world away to authorities in exchange for ease, comfort, convenience and habit, then being surprised when those authorities turn around and begin taking advantage of them. It's the eternal struggle against apathy.

Prior to my injury, day to day I was tied up in the corporate world, training at a university to be a netrunner for the megacorps. But in between, I delve deep into the grey world of cybersecurity and opsec, tinker with my tech to divest myself of corporate control and help others to the same, and act as an independent netrunner for local underground radical leftist organizations. You might say I live my ethos on my sleeve.

Whoops! Fixed. Thanks

I have no experience with this sort of thing, but it's incredibly cool, and exactly what I was looking for when creating this community. I'll definitely save this for later!
