I’ve obviously never been in contact with fiber glass insulation so I don’t know the risks besides the pictures here. Nonetheless the dangers of bare fiber optics glass contact are still dangerous which is where I draw my source of caution.

Also get a life, you are jumping to outrage over Internet comments

I went into my attic once and I shudder to think what I’d feel if the insulation up there was glass fiber. I sort of tripped up there.

For the same reason, optic fiber terrifies me. Microscopic glass needles embedding themselves into your skin.

I have never seen this meme

I suppose you could use a heat pump to concentrate internal heat around the hull for radiation into space. The datacenter could “operate” (assuming we’re just running a Minecraft server lol) while in sunlight while actively cooling and buffering excess heat, then in the shade it could continue to cool off to a safe level using solar reserves or just sit idly.

I genuinely cannot understand his point of view. AI data centers in space? I guess we’ll just make a solar veil the size of Texas to power it. And the cooling would have to be done by opening it up to let the solar winds cool everything. We can also have the ISS come fix something when it breaks. But otherwise: This dude just sounds like the guy who wanted to visit the Titantic in a carbon fiber bean. I can’t help but feel like he knows this is just a stupid idea and is going to embezzle the investor money

I suddenly vividly remember putting my mom’s Chromebook into developer mode and installing crouton on it so I could play Minecraft.

Browsers have gotten too complicated.

the people giving their bandwidth away for free now want money to pay their bills?

To clarify, I disagree with needing an account (sharing my email) with Plex in the first place, and personally would not purchase what is essentially a CDN or VPN depending on how plex distributes your content to your end users. However, from these comments it seems like this was a free service they offered and now want money for it, because it is not profitable. Enshittification? Sure, but not unexpected. Apparently this doesn’t affect you if you stream locally either.

This does complicate things though since now users have to consider paying a subscription for network security or begin distributing OpenVPN configurations to people. In some cases it won’t be possible, like on your TV.

I’ll share my secret: configure your VPN so only select traffic is sent down it and if you’re on iOS, AirPlay it to the television if it supports it. Or you can connect a raspberry pi up to it.

I feel the same way. I’m in college right now and haven’t even tried applying for internships. I’m entering my third year and am just too anxious from my inaction and my anxiety is causing my inaction. I honestly have no idea how to achieve my career goals besides interning and getting certifications. I feel like my university’s computer science program which I’m entrenched into is not preparing me for any of this. It’s been years since I programmed anything and I feel like a wet sausage sliding into mute failure. Not good, not bad. I don't even know what the reward for doing anything is and haven’t for a long time. I just feel anxiety and confusion and want to be a network engineer but don’t know the right words to say to the right people at the right time. An analogy is like being an egg forced to become a chick by the time you are laid by the chicken. If you aren’t by then, you crack open and spill everywhere and have wasted all of your time.
