Sounds like you're set for life, mate.

Because tons of media that was never properly digitized for the streaming era and only ever ended up on discs.

Doing it now will prevent a loss of history, much like early BBC recordings are lost because they would just tape over old broadcasts to save money.

For example, there was recently unearthed a single episode of a sketch comedy show made by Graham Chapman and Douglas Adams.

Problem was, the tape it was on was from the formats before VHS and Betamax. While the tape existed, no players to play back the tape existed anymore. It took a several year effort to build a new player from scratch. Finally, after all that, they were able to record the show to digital media and now it lives on YouTube for people to see. It's not the funniest material ever produced by either man, but it's definitely a piece of history worth looking at if you've ever enjoyed Monty Python or The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Attempts to digitize things that are currently available on disc but not available in digital file formats/streaming is absolutely a process of maintaining historical documents that would otherwise be lost to time. Building a new DVD or Bluray player from scratch when none exist anymore is a much bigger effort than making a tape video player, because it involves proprietary codecs, compression, and DRM.

I feel like this was announced years ago.

https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/11/16/devil-may-cry-series-joins-castlevania-in-new-multiverse-from-adi-shankar

Turns out I was right. This was announced first in 2018.

I wonder what happened between then and now that would delay this so much?

Oh yeah, it was Netflix shitcanning their entire animation department. No wonder they're going with Studio Mir, they fucking fired everybody competent internally.

As much as I liked Castlevania, I think Warren Ellis brought more to the series than people think. I'm not sure if I trust Adi Shankar to write a compelling narrative on his own. Especially with Netflix slashing budgets and somehow saving this one from cancellation.

Everything about this is ignorant.

  1. Billingsley hasn't even been arrested. He is a suspect. I guess because he has a criminal past, he's no longer deserving of a fair trial, according to this guy.

  2. US isn't interested in rehabilitating people and having them become productive members of society when they leave. Why? Because we never abolished slavery, just required that someone had to be jailed first to be able to be used as slave labor. This is why you have private prisons, etc. It's profitable to have prisoners. This means you have a lot of people coming out of the system continuing to commit criminal acts, they learned more about crime while inside, not less.

  3. I guess all Public Defenders and Defense Attorneys in general are the "lowest of the low" and "pathetic." Because apparently no one in the history of the US has ever had the law turned against them unfairly. Cops definitely don't do things like arresting people for "resisting arrest" with no other charges.

This guy is just some angry asshole who can't be fucked to understand how you actually rehabilitate people. He's only interested in punishment. Which... last I checked, doesn't work very well on it's own in changing/rehabilitating people.

As much as it is cathartic to punch idiots in the face (Nazis for example), it does very little to change the mind of the individual punched, and is more likely to make themselves convinced they're a victim. Violence/Punishment doesn't teach people shit, it just makes them more sure they're right. This is how our jails and prisons work.

This just in: US prisons aren't interested in rehabilitating the people held in them.

Maybe you should research criminal justice in other countries and how they avoid the same recidivism rates as we have before spouting dumb fucking boot licking garbage like this.

I don't know why you're being hassled. I legit had never heard of Home Assistant and made a dumb throwaway joke because the colors mentioned were Yellow and Green, which were also flavors of Soylent in the film Soylent Green. (There was also a Soylent Red, but thats immaterial to this)

I honestly thought the person mentioning Home Assistant Green was making a similar joke... So, your misunderstanding is valid, imho.

Software Engineers: Wait, you guys are getting certifications?

I heard this in John Hamm's voice.

I'm glad he's doing more comedy work these days.

I heard Home Assistant Green is made of people.

It means they're clearly a bad faith troll.
