It's a mix of both. On my windows gaming rig I have ms office, photoshop sketchup and fl studio pirated. I haven't found a good foss alternative for photoshop, sketchup or flstudio (using gimp is worse than being an actuall gimp ). On my Linux laptop I've been using more and more foss. I'm getting use to Libre office but it doesn't do everything I need. Switched chrome for Firefox, vscodium as a code editor, waydroid for Android apps

I'd say stay away from open source software from now. I love Foss but it's almost never beginner friendly. You should start with a commercial engine like unity which is free for personal use. Bro code on YouTube has a really good course on C#. You will need to learn how to code for games. And you will need to learn c# for unity. The good thing is that c# is an amazing beginner programming language, it won't hold your hand to a fault like python but you also won't shoot yourself in the foot like with c++. C# is also quite similar to Java so a lot of what you learn will carry over, well that's actually true for almost all c like languages. After you feel comfortable writing simple console applications on c# you should start looking for unity tutorials. Again unity is free for personal use so no need to worry about cost. You can do 2d and 3d games and also android games. So get on it. Don't be too hard on yourself, coding is a skill that you train same with game development. If you feel demotivated just remember that coding is telling a highly processed rock how to think and that basically makes you a modern day wizard

Im running good old Ubuntu with gnome. I mostly play terraria, minecraft I and Bethesda rpgs these days so it does everything I need.

I live in Ecuador. Tap water can be drunk without boiling on the capital and most other cities in the andes. In the Amazon and the pacific is better to boil it first. Guayaquil the second largest city has a reputation of having incredibly dangerous water

I have Ubuntu running on andronix on my infinix note 12 g96. Ot runs really well. I use it for Libre office and vscode to do homework. There a few things that don't work tho. The patched version of vscode that andronix offers is ancient, a lot of extensions don't work. Your also limited to apps that are compatible with arm, I haven't been able to get box64 working, might try qemu for that some day
