PS. This article will inevitably make Spain objectively worse for tourism. Tourism is so much better in places that aren’t blasted to the masses in multinational magazine articles.

Don’t click this clickbait. Here’s the last paragraph to save you from Business Inside Her:

Surprisingly, it wasn’t difficult for me to select my No. 1 country — Spain has always been near and dear to my heart.

Again, I may be biased. It’s where I lived as a child and studied abroad, but every return trip has been memorable.

You really can’t go wrong anywhere you travel in the country. Sevilla and Granada are great places for history buffs, San Sebastián is a foodie’s paradise, and Madrid and Barcelona have amazing shopping and nightlife.

Mallorca is my favorite Spanish island because it’s home to stunning beaches, cultural festivals, and stunning scenery. Even though it’s very popular, it somehow still has a relaxing aura.

I mean, did people expect anything good from a sequel to a movie that literally didn’t need a sequel?

I mount my NAS as a native NFS drive upon mount. I used to have to resort to this hackery (and the pain of replicating it when I inevitably update the OS) before I switched to NixOS. Now, all I do is declare the drives and they mount automatically at boot. If I’m on my laptop, the computer simply boots without those drives available.

{
  fileSystems."/export/mafuyu" = {
    device = "/mnt/mafuyu";
    options = [ "bind" ];
  };

  fileSystems."/export/sen" = {
    device = "/mnt/sen";
    options = [ "bind" ];
  };

  fileSystems."/export/tomoyo" = {
    device = "/mnt/tomoyo";
    options = [ "bind" ];
  };

  fileSystems."/export/kotomi" = {
    device = "/mnt/kotomi";
    options = [ "bind" ];
  };
}

Everything mentioned here can be done declaratively using NixOS:

I disagree with nothing you’ve said here. This is exactly what I would do and exactly what IS done in industry.

[–] demesisx 11 points 11 months ago

Yeah that’s true. Still, it’s an ad.

[–] demesisx 12 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Looks like a holiday ad disguised as a news story.

Kim “cumback” Kardashian and Elon “white supremacist” Musk.

This is the understanding ANYWHERE. How do we know there aren’t back doors in our OS’s? We literally have no clue. We do THE BEST WE CAN using the clues we have.

[–] demesisx 12 points 11 months ago (2 children)

If a doctor or mechanic was wrong, at least you’d have an inkling that things were wrong and you’d be able to sue them. Whereas with cryptography, no one has ANY IDEA WHATSOEVER if there are back doors until they are used to rob people blind. In all of the cases you mentioned, victims of those abuses have recourse whereas in cryptography, if things are wrong, they often CANNOT be patched and it’s even exceptionally hard for an expert to prove what went wrong.

[–] demesisx 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It was a vapid, low effort, hiveminded Reddit joke.

It wouldn’t have. You totally misunderstood my comment. Reread it.

To paraphrase: when you hire a cryptographer to work on your project you have to hope that they are not a scammer because they could easily lie to you about the soundness of their cryptography and you’d have no idea. You see, SBF and Do Kwan were liars. If they had been cryptographers (they aren’t and weren’t) their employer would have to believe them since they would be an expert in something nearly impossible for a layman to understand.

Do you get it yet?

THIS IS NOT A SOUND DEMO WITH A GUITAR AND AMPLIFIER. It is an analysis of Allan Holdsworth's tone control using an oscilloscope and a pair of function generators used in the audio range where we can hear it thru an LM386 based mini-amplifier. Also there's a brief bit about my LTSpice analysis of the circuit.

I wanted to know more about this tone control that Allan Holdsworth designed for his custom Harness units, so I built it and tested just that part of the circuit. I think it has potential to be used in a few different ways, in a simple tube amp or in a DIY guitar pedal. In my use of it so far it has never been harsh or "muddy" sounding!
