spoilerIf it's spelled that way and it's the animal, I think it's spelled wrong. If it means someone whose job is to fetch stuff, I thought that was slang?

Great time for people to go vegan if they aren't already

And where is Murderbot?

Great show, I started on a whim thinking I wouldn't like it because I couldn't get into the book awhile ago. The show is significantly better, I think.

The comments on that article are... something.

125,000 Canadians move to the US each year for a better life - our best people! My neighbour moved to Texas in December and wished she'd made the move a long time ago. There's bigger everything - larger homes, larger pay, better disposable incomes, more vibrancy, better weather and better people

How did you cheat?

I usually find the ones with words that aren't words a good stepping stone towards the answer

Dog hotel could either refer to a doggy daycare place or a hotel that allows pets, I'm assuming the former based on what they said.

Also,

Queer folk are allowed to exist.

She's not tolerant of this.

Yeah, I mean a potential path could be a narrowing of how a "well regulated Militia" is defined. But I agree, it's a fully lost cause.

What's the point of an organized society and a government anyway? Not to care for each other and reduce harm, right? /s

USA citizen here (unfortunately)

Guns are designed to kill, or at least cause harm.

I don't think we should kill, or even cause the kind of harm that guns inflict.

∴ Guns shouldn't exist.

I recognize this is a super idealistic approach, but this is just a "general concept of how a society should run."

Yes, I'm taking into account hunting. We shouldn't be killing non-human animals either. Sports is a more difficult problem to tackle for me, I recognize others like shooting for sporting events, and it's not causing harm inherently. Might even be safer than American football, lol.

Having said that, a more realistic approach would be a gun buy back program and a slow phase out of guns for our police or at least a reduction / demilitarization of our police. I have no hope that this will happen, but wow, it'd be nice.

The Minneapolis City Council on Thursday approved an ordinance that would prohibit landlords from employing algorithms to set rent and vacancy rates.

The proposed ordinance would specifically ban the use of algorithms that use “non-public competitor data.” It passed by an 11-2 vote.

Wonsley said many of the corporate property management companies that use this technology operate student housing complexes around the University of Minnesota. College students are “particularly vulnerable to exploitation,” she said, because they’re often first-time renters who are constrained to living near campus.

I'm not like one of those weirdos that just kills for no reason. I shot that dolphin right in its wet brain and I loved it. In fact, my pleasure from doing so was higher than my vegetarian friend's when they ate a whole block of cheese.

Right now, there's $20k being offered for information about me, but I think that's dumb. I tried to go to the FBI with information about a trophy hunter and the local butcher, but the special agent said he wouldn't give me any money for that and they already knew about it. He did offer me a bacon-topped doughnut on the way out though!

Edit, dang this is very different than Reddit's vcj.

Republicans have at long last elected a House speaker: Representative Mike Johnson, a fundamentalist Christian who was alsoem once called a key “architect” in Congress’s efforts to overthrow the 2020 election.
