The problem I have with these people lawyering for Bam and Kiko is that when anyone else does it, matic ekis kaagad sa kanila.

When bills like the Maharlika fund and legalizing POGOs were put up for a vote, they get mad at those who side (or abstain) with the express intent of not pissing off the super majority and burning political capital. Wag daw kalimutan yung mga bumoto for it. But now that Bam and Kiko are doing it, purist ka na when you call it out.

Heck, just a few weeks ago we were mad at Chiz — pero ngayon we're letting Bam and Kiko's decision to vote for him as SP slide kasi "hurr durr committee chairmanship".

Naaalala ko na naman tuloy yung pagdadownplay nila sa mga LGBT who hated Heidi's conservative ass. Single issue voter daw. Kek.

Edit: Sure enough, Bam got screwed. His platform was free college education and guaranteed jobs which are under Higher, Technical and Vocational Education. Instead, he only gets Basic Education - his same chair from way back.

All matters directly and principally relating to pre-school, elementary and secondary education, science high schools except the Philippine Science High School System, special education, teachers' and students' welfare, non-formal and community adult education, the national language, libraries and museums, and the preservation and enrichment of Filipino culture.

Edit 2: Looks like it actually paid off. Cayetano is looking to pawn off the Science & Tech chairmanship to him.

This is for my Undusthings sister channel which are mostly educational explainer videos.

Bakit taglish yung language? Pinoy ang main audience mo.

Yes, the content at the moment is predominantly about Filipino culture — but I don't like to box myself in on a certain audience. If it's old and I feel like it deserves a look regardless of its country of origin, I'm going to cover it.

As for taglish, I'm more comfortable with it and I feel that's how most Filipinos communicate in reality. Wala naman nagsasalita these days ng full on straight tagalog like they're on a covert Illustrados meeting — and this is coming from someone who hates speaking in English in person! LOL! It also separates me from the hundreds of other local nostalgia channels.

Is that your voice??

It's not. I use a text-to-speech AI with quite possibly the most authentic Filipino-sounding voice I could find. I mean it had you fooled, lol. It's just impossible for me to do any clean voice overs given the circumstances — and that's living in a bungalow with a kid and construction work on the neighboring lot. Doing a Zoom call with a dynamic mic feels like I'm in Ubon Ratchathani.

This is also partly the reason why the language is predominantly English.

Do please!

While I've done (and intend to do more) lost media stuff, I try to avoid it as much as possible. There's just too many channels doing that already. And if it's lost, chances are there's little material to work with in terms of visuals.

The other day, someone called Undusthings the "Filipino Oddheader" and I like that. I've never heard of the channel before that comment but it's accurate. I hope it could be half as good as that channel someday.

What makes your channel different?

For one, I use (often) never-before-seen clips directly from my vault. Even if it's not rare, it's still my own capture. I try to avoid using clips that are not mine as much as I can avoid it.

Secondly, I try to focus on topics that are often not covered by anyone else. Sometimes it can be too nichey and only a few people could relate, but that's alright. I just don't see the value proposition of doing the exact same thing as any other channel.

Most importantly, I'm not in it for the money. I'm not going to put up a 15-minute video of nothing just so I'd have more advertising time or watch hours. If there's only enough material for a 4-minute video then that's it. I'm not going to paraphrase an entire Wikipedia article — you're going to get my own thoughts and experiences. Any centavo I earn (if ever I become eligible) just goes back to producing content. Filmora's assets library can be pricey, those bastards.

I'd also love to watch something that I actually like. That's why you would occasionally get a post-modernist thesis on the UAAP opening. Total headscratcher for everyone else, but amusing to me. 🤣

How do I contact you?

Fire me an email at things@undustfixation.com. But please, limit it to suggestions or feedback only and not for me to find you a video.

The country is, but some cities have gender-inclusive laws. Quezon City was one of the first to initiate a safe spaces act, SOGIESC, etc. way before most cities.

That's his whole shtick, apparently. Glad someone stood up to him although if he's really tough I'd like to see him do that shit in Cavite or Bulacan and not fucking BGC which is practically Beverly Hills, lol.

Edit: The guy who stood up to him ended up making a channel about his PH travels shortly after he became an overnight sensation. Now that puts all of that confrontation in a different light.

Natuloy din narration project ko! I'm using an AI voice kasi it's impossible to film here with so many noise, whether construction work or my daughter getting curious and bothering me a lot.

This article always make my morbid-ass laugh whenever I remember it.

3 brothers drown in flooded basement

According to the victims’ elder brother, Erwin, who serves as caretaker of the building, Marlo – who lives with him – went missing at around 1 p.m. Wednesday while fixing a chicken coop at the dry portion of the basement. Thinking that Marlo could have slipped into the water, Edwin went underwater but failed to surface. Erwin said he called up Arnulfo from Imus, Cavite, who also dived into the water upon arriving at the building past 6 p.m. He also did not surface.

It was only then that Erwin and his mother, Editha, sought assistance from the police, who called up the BFP and the MMDA.

I frequented Something Awful Forums and Television Without Pity between 2000-08 and it's interesting to see the contrast on the type of users that posted there.

While SA was into a lot of racist, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic humor (that admittedly I found funny), TWoP's "woke" (I mean that in a good way) outlook confused me at the time. Nowadays, TWoP is how the internet (well, mostly) conduct themselves and SA adopted that too over the years. I too find my SA antics (that I carried over to other forums and social media) shameful.

That said, it's no surprise that when the more recent Lowtax fiascos happened, he never received any sympathy from the forums and they quickly moved to oust him. Compared to when the first instances of his bad behavior bubbled up the surface (how his engagement with Emily ended) from 2002 wherein he got plenty of support. He even wrote a lengthy piece about it despite proclaiming his hatred for what he calls E/N.

New year, new thread.

Gunshot not mention on Wiki, but it's here.

I tend to mythologize bands I like, particularly as a teenager during those points. I'd even make websites for them if they're a little underrated and I liked them enough. Had Lostprophets continued to make great albums (reminiscent of their debut), I probably would have gone that route.

I loved "thefakesoundofprogress". It was different than conventional nu-metal bands in that it leaned more towards post-hardcore/emo.

Fortunately they kind of disappeared for a bit and resurfaced sounding like the shitty version of OneD. I didn't have to feel guilty listening to a band fronted by Peter Scully Jr.

What separates Lemmy and Reddit is that you don't have to overthink what you post, lol. I can just say what I want and not worry about adding receipts to whatever I say, whether I got my facts right, or do I come off bad. If edits need to be made, you can go back later in the day when you're free because no one would be reading it until after a week anyway LMAO. I believe there are also logs that allow others to check what you edited. So while commenting here interrupts work, it doesn't take more than a few minutes to do unlike in Reddit when it would literally take half an hour or so.

I still use Reddit daily for browsing non-PH news and happenings, but I completely stopped posting. Every once in a while I'll try to comment something but delete it immediately after. I realized that replying and posting ate up a huge chunk of my time and often derail my momentum when working, so I don't really miss it. But at the same time, posting my thoughts is an outlet and it's also nice to revisit to see where my headspace was at a particular point. As an alternative, I just post it on my FB feed and set it to "Only Me".

It doesn't help that r/PH is a shit-show echo chamber now, mostly because of the users. Nakaka-turnoff yung mga matapobre, antinatalists, eugenicists, and low-effort threads. I haven't been there for a week pero pustahan mga posts diyan tungkol na naman sa pinipilit sila magperform sa Christmas Party tapos pag malapit na bagong taon sasabihin nila ang lakas lakas magpatunog ng tambutso hulugan naman daw yung motor. They're seriously just as bad as the bastards on FB's comment sections.

That said, I'm happy it all played out the way it did. I was able to get UndustFixation started, able to finish some of my PS5 backlogs, go out of the country for the first time since 2012, and I'm bonding with my daughter now through our shared interest in blind boxes (she got me into it actually lol).
