While Tesla said that McGee was solely responsible, as the driver of the car, McGee told the court that he thought Autopilot "would assist me should I have a failure or should I miss something, should I make a mistake," a perception that Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk has done much to foster with highly misleading statistics that paint an impression of a brand that is much safer than in reality.

Here’s the thing, Tesla’s marketing of autopilot was much different than the reality. Sure, the fine print might have said having your foot on the gas would shut down autopilot, but the marketing made autopilot sound much more powerful. This guy put his trust in how the vehicle was marketed, and somebody died as a result.

My car, for instance, does not have self driving, but it will still brake if it detects I am going to hit something. Even when my foot is on the gas. It is not unreasonable to think a car marketed the way Tesla was marketed would have similar features.

Lastly, Tesla’s valuation as a company was based on this same marketing, not the fine print. So not only did the marketing put people in danger, but Tesla profited massively from it. They should be held responsible for this.

The Supreme Court, obviously. They will just explain how the wording is confusing and doesn’t actually mean birthright citizenship the way we typically do. Fact that they told Trump to start issuing guidance tells me they are going to tailor their ruling to that guidance.

In June, however, the Supreme Court expressly permitted the government to begin “developing and issuing public guidance about the executive’s plans to implement” Trump’s order. Acting on that decision, an immigration agency released the first stage of its “implementation plan” last Friday.

From the article. This is basically their plan for once the Supreme Court allows it.

she was groomed and abused by Mr. Epstein and his associates until she broke contact with him in 2002.

That same year, Mr. Trump praised Mr. Epstein in an interview with New York Magazine.

“Terrific guy,” Mr. Trump said of Mr. Epstein in October 2002. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

The timeline of that quote is even crazier when you realize what was going on at the time.

Also, Trump said he blacklisted Epstein cause he was a creep, but it seemed more like it was a business disagreement. Like, Epstein was recruiting Trump’s underage employees.

The cobra lunged at the child and coiled itself around his tiny hands during the incident on Friday, his relatives said.

But instead of screaming, Govinda put the snake’s head in its mouth and clenched his jaw, Mateshwari Devi, the boy’s grandmother, recounted.

He quickly lost consciousness after ingesting some of the deadly venom, but was treated in hospital and has since been discharged.

Fuck

I had this thought after watching a game where the winning team came back from the 2 minute warning running the victory formation.

It seems dumb to me that we come back from the 2 minute ~~warning~~ commercial break and the only time we have action is if the game is close and the losing team has the ball or has timeouts.

What if instead, the winning team is forced to run plays that actually drain the clock, or attempt to get yards and points. I feel like this would make the last 2 minutes more exciting.

Take the Bills v Chiefs game. It was an exciting game, but Chiefs went into victory formation at the 1:30 mark. What if instead the chiefs would have to keep playing for at least another minute? What other sports can we have a game this close where the last minute+ is this boring?

Alternate idea, under 1 minute, the play clock stops after every play.

Any thoughts? I think both would make for a more exciting 2 minutes, and change the coaching strategy in an interesting way.

2 great movies about bad moms. One from the child’s perspective, the other from the mom’s perspective.

Welcome to my darkness. I spent my life hunting this guy, Morty. This is the closest I've ever been to Rick Prime. It's impossible. He.. He's an incredibly crafty piece of shit. Hunting him destroyed me, Morty, but now we're gonna do it together. You and me. It's going to take over your life Morty! Rick and Morty season 7: Hunting My Nemesis. Maybe trying to stay healthy while doing it? Juggling plates? Not every episode, Morty. It could be all happening in the background. Who knows? No.. Noone will, except us. It.. It's the most painfull shit I've ever had to deal with, but I'm bringing you into it because you asked for it, Morty! You and me Morty!

I’m not really sure where to ask this question. Maybe there’s a lemmy dev community where these kind of discussions already happen.

I feel like the default front page in Lemmy is still severely lacking when compared to Reddit’s r/all algorithm. I find hot and top hourly to be nearly identical. The top 6 hour is closer, but still not as good as what the Reddit default front page is.
