Agreed on that. Though I will give them credit for not just re-skinning a Linux or BSD based OS and calling it a day like lots of "new" distros do. I thought it was some kind of Chromium OS distro based on the look, and was happy to see it is just the current look for the UI that is running a completely new OS. The bold claim does seem a bit much, and does remind me of how Google advertised the early versions of Chrome. Which of course was also much faster than the other browsers, but that was because it also didn't have most features of the "slow" browsers. After it got extensions and much more fully working versions of features from other browsers, it became about the same from a speed/resources standpoint. Since it seems to be like one guy, I am willing to be a bit more forgiving as it is about on par with many other new projects trying to get attention for funding so they can quit their regular jobs and focus on just the project itself.

I love how often that same line of "thought" is and has been used just in my lifetime. We are told that the best "feature" of capitalism is about supposedly having so many choices because of competition and all that. While at the same time we are just never even told of any potential or existing options. Also used as an excuse to keep things from other places away from us. All because someone in a corp somewhere at some points in time keep claiming that "Americans just can't possibly understand something". Which also re-enforces the culture of praising ignorance and just always assuming we are correct and nothing is better (or allowed in some cases where we missed some cool tech). I know the real point is because they don't want to provide choices. But shit is a broken record for us not know of or be able to use other options.
They love to talk all that shit about "our missiles are so accurate that we can hit a ladybug" or some such level of nonsense. Which all of a sudden goes away every time that it is shown how many more people were killed while trying to get one person.

But the fascists might have been showing up to support the event that was "gatecrashed". As the person giving the speech and the event itself seem to have been anti-trans anyway. Hexbear and Lemmygrad formed to be leftist first and individual interests second. So your take is spot-on. I also think that they get mad that Hexbear doesn't have the option to downvote. So they don't get the satisfaction of the power trip and makes them even more pissed off. lol
The funny thing about people thinking we are assholes is that between here, lemmy.ml, and lemmygrad.ml I have found this instance to be the most chill. I find myself more concerned about getting attacked on lemmy.ml for even trying to say something that is not in-line with the western media narrative. I am a bit worried about getting jumped on for misunderstanding or having a bad take on lemmygrad. However I have begun to be better at thinking about how I say/ask things when replying to posts. Which I think is overall a good thing and have better accepted that even if I may disagree with folks, that it is better to learn more about those things over all.
For all the shit that I am learning and seeing that gets said about here and lemmygrad. Those folks on lemmy.ml and the other instances are just beyond quick to just outright refuse to take a moment to consider that they are not questioning shit at all. Just super binary "good or evil." Even if they agree that their "side" has historically both lied and done super fucked up shit. It is still unwavering "still much better than insert whatever shit they think anti-capitalism has done to so many people." They completely misunderstand that us "tankies" are just dumb motherfuckers brainwashed into thinking that AES nations never did anything wrong. It also doesn't help that even "progressive" liberals are so firmly conserned about being super slightly left of dead centre. To go around talking shit about how the hammer and sickle should be treated the same as the Nazi swastika. Still believing that the US is the reason we won the war. Nor do they realize how the Cold War was completely kicked off by the western allies renegging on promises made to the USSR for helping recoup. That the massive build-up of nukes was due to our own war hawks lying about the supposed rapid build-up of anything from the Soviets. Cuba and USSR are always the "war mongers" for putting nukes on Cuba, but the US's shit in Europe/Turkiey.
Not sure how bad it is currently in the UK. But aside from your point about feeling like an asshole for bothering a worker to get something for you. As a worker in a big box electronics store in the US, the corpos already have reduced staffing so freaking much while still 1000% freaking out if so much as two people get close enough to even hint at a line forming. While the customers also seem to be of the same opinion as the corpos with the loud moaning about how long it takes to "be helped." So needing the already thin stretched staff to field even more utterly pointless shit pisses me off. On the plus-side, this open hostility of the rich to workers might actually be the thing that sparks revolts (would really really really love to see mass class awakening and maybe a lot of shit on fire like the French seem to do so well). But with the shoppers also being on team "fuck you lazy workers" and bootlicking the fuck out of the corps. I am guessing it is too easy to just never have popular support so long as all the range is carefully pointed at all of us.
Seems like it would be more of a conspiracy of health folks to make getting junk food to annoying to bother with.

So I responded initially with my very basic attempt at working with socdems, which is also dumb the more I think about it.
