Homophobia is not a religion-only issue. There are many LGBT hate crimes happening all over the world and all the time. The world in its entirity has failed LGBT, and to single out Muslims or Christians is to ignore those issues happening in other places.

I like exploring and learning about innovative software.
Sometimes, I don't know about a problem until I find its solution. For example, before ever using the terminal seriously, I never felt I had any problem working with my computer. Nonetheless, the terminal world has given me a lot of enjoyment and solved a lot of problems around navigating a computer and working with it.

The other two answers are correct but missing one maker thing: many major distributions apply patches to the kernel before distributing. So there are very slight modifications.
I posted a bunch in this community before it surged in June / July. I still comment moderately here, and read comment threads moderately.
Overall I'm not super active. I would just watch my regular feed and comment threads like I currently do, and if I see something uncivil, I'll intervene. So if I am chosen, it would be ideal to have other mods as well, as I may not be enough on my own.
