They only ever shit on anyone trying to do anything.

Oh and lots of "bOtH sIdEs!!"

Grab what you can, add to radarr and you'll likely get the absolute bulk of them. There may be some odd ones out, and those are the ones I'd rip.

For the rips themselves, what I ended up doing for family tapes is a generic s-video capture device, ffmpeg to rip.

I capture for the full length of the tape, play it, take a peek that everything came in well, and find the end to trim (also ffmpeg).

Then that version I'll make an archive, and I'll transcode a copy for media server use.

Not bad, it picked Debian based on my responses and its definitely my preference. The list below all works too, with the minuses as noted.

Seems like a decent tool!

Gotcha, there are some folks out there who think its basically a blockbuster with a computer lab these days, so figured I'd comment all the same.

Its a resource too few take advantage of IMO...

TONS.

My local library is about half for under 12, a quarter or the space for teens, and then the last quarter is a split of nonfiction and fiction for adults.

So if you go as an adult without a plan or a request that came in, you may not find much other than the librarians latest rec or the newest additions rack.

For kids though, my local library is incredible. Reading nooks, educational play areas for the little ones, etc. Its wonderful.

My oldest is getting anywhere from 6-8 books a week right now, she's going into 2nd grade. Libraries are awesome.

"Not dismiss" <> "jump to".

The bar to 'decent' doesn't actually lower.

Donald Trump is just orders of magnitude further below the bar than Bill Clinton, but the bar is in the same spot.

Nope.

Fuck TD. They enabled this horseshit automatically on my account. Surprise, surprise, it didnt work on my voice, even once.

Supposedly they disabled it three times. Guess what else happened? Someone accessed my damn account, because it was their voice linked to my account.

I'll never have a TD account again. Absolute jackasses in terms of account security, that isn't even the only issue I had with them.

Al Gore may not have really invented the Internet

Which, to point out, he never actually said. He said "creating" - which is actually accurate, since he pushed the policies that allowed for it to exist. Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn support his stance that he was a primary driver behind its development from a policy perspective. I believe they even said no other politician has been as important to the internet (rough paraphrase, someone else can grab the exact quote) as Gore.

The claim that he said he "invented the internet" came from dirtbag pundits, of course.

My last library was.... Not great. Mostly because of the town it was in, not the librarians.

New one is amazing - 3d printer, maker classes, painting classes, museums and multiple online educational tools for kids....

Even a play area for under 8 with puzzles and nooks for them to read in. The one in town when I was a kid is bigger, and had a larger nonfiction/adult section by far, but this one is amazing for the teens and under, even graphic novels, mangas, etc available. I'm glad my kids have this library available to them.

Edit: And just to mention, youngest is too little to read yet but enjoys the learning play there. Oldest is reading 2 books between each trip, 2-3 times a week. Such a great resource, wish it was as good everywhere.

For anyone curious, this is a Sicilian rice ball (arancini), they go all over NJ, operating out of northeastern NJ.

For the same reason as WiFi supposedly making people sick.

To be clear, what I mean by that is "its utter horse shit".
