I had a teacher in high school who had in his classroom a sign that compelled standing for the pledge. our school also played the anthem too and I'll bet that mandate carried over too. I didn't have him 1st period so I never had to endure any of that.

he was also quite literally the worst teacher I ever had. he didn't teach anything. it was basically a class where you sat, listened to him lecture about bullshit, call him sir every time, and sit and write on a topic to a specific word count. also a self described white married with children christian who (I didn't find out until well after I graduated) hit on the black girls in class, but you probably knew that already.

i was forced to say the pledge of allegiance every day up until high school. it was a bit of a shock to not be forced to say it my freshman year. I can't imagine how bad it would be to be forced to say the pledge and sing the anthem every day. especially if you get some of those teachers who have a flagpole stuck up their asses that they will give some sort of administrative punishment if you sang the magical flag song wrong. I think I'd tell my parents I was just going to live in detention all year.

biden is the nominee because it is historically political suicide for a party to primary their incumbent. and in this case since the other viable nominee is trump, primarying biden feels like small d democratic suicide for the country. smart people who don't like biden (for whatever reason, I include myself in that group) will get behind a biden candidacy enthusiastically just to. keep trump out.

trump is the nominee because the republican party as currently constructed is no longer a political party but a cult. a cult of white male grievances that not only seeks to opress anyone not white and male but also has adapted old testament principles where the only ones who had any status at all were males. and the thing is, trump doesn't believe in anything they do (except the racism and misogyny). he just accepts those people because they love him, he gives them permission to act as they do because he does. and the adolation from the people is the thing that drives narcissists. and the one thing those people want more than anything else is power for the sake of controlling other people. they want trump because trump wants their idolation and trump will give them everything just to be cheered. and yes I meant idolation.

if the people don't like this cycle's choices, they should have voted in their party's primaries. this year or 4 years ago.

you aren't getting a screenshot, but tldr in politics 2.5 years ago I told a famous transperson who would never read that subreddit running for an elected office to go fuck themselves using their birth name and got permabanned for deadnaming. since that was my most active sub I just didn't go back to the site in general since there was a good chance something would happen in the us political world and I couldn't comment. I felt it best to just not be on the site so I wouldn't be tempted.

and then in the subsequent time the site imploded.
