This looks surprisingly entertaining.

Old stock trader wisdom: don't catch a falling knife.

You don't know how low things can go. We're merely 100 days into the Trump presidency.

That's technically correct, the best kind of correct.

Let's see, what do you need do a modern car factory? Robots! Huh, they're extra expensive now, since there are tariffs on them. What else? Electronics! Huh, they're from Asia, with extra high tariffs. Workers! Huh, they've been deported by ICE. Building parts for automobiles! Huh, they're only manufactured in Europe and China, hence super-expensive. Guess we'll have to build a factory for auto-parts first. Let's see, what do you need for a modern auto-parts factory...

Hmm, something had changed, I wonder what it was.

It really is a meme stock. The next headline can move it wildly into either direction, totally independent of the underlying business. Owning TSLA is basically gambling, and people love gambling.

You'd think nothing would surprise me anymore, but this sounds so unreal.

WTF, such platforms exist, at such scale?

[–] cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.de 57 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Ahh, the olde "it will get worse before it gets better" defense of hugely damaging policy. It will only get worse.

But couldn't they just be defederated? Isn't that how it works?

This is still the beginning, you ain't seen nothing yet. The rule of law no longer exists in the US. This has such deep implications, you can barely fathom them.

So that's what cooking feels like for people who never cooked before.
