Good point on the life insurance. The way I imagined this situation is that by the time you'd find out you're dying, it'd be too late to get affordable life insurance that would actually pay out. Wouldn't it be expensive as hell to try getting life insurance while you're already dying of a terminal illness? Or god forbid the cause of death is suicide and your family is denied the claim because it's obvious you only got life insurance for that.

My thinking is that you could buy up the gold bullion on much shorter notice than you could get a life insurance policy, then your family would just take it to various pawn shops to sell it an ounce at a time as money is needed.

express extreme indifference

You must publicly cry and grieve for this man who we have been calling the reincarnation of Hitler for the past four years!

The capitalists will sell each other the rope with which they will accidentally hang themselves.

Damn, thinking of camping out near the beach below the house so I can loot the wreck after it falls

I think it would because most Americans don't actually know what anarchism is. The average person off the street will give you the dictionary definition of anarchy and say it's when you have no laws and can do whatever you want. When they hear this guy was an "anarchist" they'll instantly write him off the same way we instantly write off libertarians.

We're already there. Felons lose their "right" to vote just like they lose their "right" to not be enslaved. Another way the US criminal justice system obfuscates the fact that this piece of shit country is still the same piece of shit country it was 200 years ago.

It kind of looks like reddit has permanently marked all accounts and variously fingerprinted users that once posted often in r/cth and now they just ban any new subreddit where they start to congregate regardless of whether it's an actual attempt to revive the sub or not. It's like a soft shadow ban where we can still comment on most posts in most subreddits, but if we start talking politics with like minded people, it alerts the admins.

Lmao what's with this assumption that Walter, a guy who is desperate enough to rob a woman who is under the protection of a private militia, has the kind of cash to hire his own private militia? Most libertarians make up some bullshit to skirt around the fact that the poor would be mega fucked under their ideal system, but here it's just obvious subtext.

When ADT looks into Walter and finds out he has no security company, they're not going to complete any investigation or pay for any arbitration, why bother spending money on that? They'll just show up at his home, beat the shit out of him, steal everything he has, shoot his dog, and sell him into slavery. Honestly not unlike what we have now except there isn't even a farcical trial or appeals system to maybe have some amount of recourse.

For gaming it's a waste.

Generally speaking, I agree. The draw for those garden variety triple AAA games really should be the game play itself and not necessarily the graphics considering how many them are released every year. More brute force processing power to continuously increase the number of pixels with ray tracing far beyond practical limits is never going to make up for a lack of care, attention to detail, and artistry in the actual game assets.

On the other hand, I'm a sucker for simulation games, particularly flight sims, and I can't help but think it'd be sick as hell if I could have an RTX 5090 Ti and an R9 8950X3D to make that shit look indistinguishable from real life.

Also it's my dream for modders to make KSP look identical to MSFS, and honestly it's already halfway there. Unfortunately modding a game in that fashion, especially one that came out in the early 2010s, is always going to result in a horrific unoptimized mess. A nice realism overhaul suite of gameplay and graphics mods can easily push into requiring 64gb of RAM these days, and over 16gb of VRAM. But wow would it be worth it if I could ever afford such a system. For now I'll need to settle on the frankly depressing experience my laptop with an intel iGPU can provide.

I found a dusty old office desktop in my parents garage a few months ago from circa 2008, and I noticed it had both an AMD and Nvidia sticker on it, so I decided to open it up to take a look at what card it had. When I got the thing open I was perplexed to find there was no card in it at all, and that single core Sempron wasn't an APU, so what gives?

Found out that not only did integrated graphics exist back then on AMD platforms, but that they were built right into the motherboard and Nvidia manufactured them. It had no fan at all or really any obvious indication of its existence lol. Just an innocuous little piece of aluminum for a heat sink that was stuck on good to the chip with some kind of strong adhesive. Took a while to figure out that's what that was. Didn't know this was a thing, but that must've been a lot lower end than a 9500 GT.

So is the offspring going to look like a cross between a shark and stingray kinda like how Ligers and Mules are mixed species?

I don't know if pharmacists are dumb, but they are certainly often fucking assholes and deliberately neglectful to certain patients. Yeah most people have good experiences with pharmacists for most things, but if you need a controlled substance they instantly transform into cops and start treating you like a criminal. They're not quite as bad about this as doctors, but wow can they be real pieces of shit.

You've ever been on the r/pharmacy subreddit? Maybe this is just the intersection of reddit-logo and pharmacists, but they often actively delight in "sticking it to the junkies". They love pretending to just be your run of the mill abused retail employee when patients get upset that they're about to have their ability to live a functional life totally obliterated, often on top of torturous withdrawals.
