I love the old turn-based FF games, but there are plenty of new options for that kind of combat. Dragon Quest is still turn-based, and the Persona/SMT games are great fun. Final Fantasy has always been about pushing the limits of storytelling and making everything look beautiful, and I think for this one the real time battle system works really well.
