Agreed, I remember being shocked about a decade ago learning that there were services run in developing countries where you pay about $1 for 1000 CATPCHA solves for your spam bot to pass along and a person solving it.
comfy
That's a good point, I suppose I take it for granted that I'm in communities with many links to other communities.
That said, the ones I'm talking about tend to try and be as loud as they can, to advertise and recruit, so for the people who are online a lot aiming to keep tabs on them, it shouldn't be any more difficult if they're on the same site or a different one.
This is true, politics is not something distinct which can be considered separate from or optionally added to society, culture or economics, although Lemmy is also explicitly political. That might be more what I intended to say.
(The real kicker is realizing that abstaining is not politically neutral.)
Basically any opinion of the modern Internet I give.
I'm a certified computer expert, but I sound like a Luddite when it comes to anything mainstream.
Modern [insert any art style] has gotten worst and worse!
(although truth be told, it's more of a millennial "90s cartoons/music/films were so much better" opinion)
They're not sealioning, they're responding to a bunch of strong, reasonably insulting allegations. Maybe not responding gracefully, but they're not sealioning.
In fact, I don't even think it's possible for one reply to be sealioning, the whole point is that it's repetitive harassment (as stated in the wiki link you posted). That's why the original comic strip that defined it has so many panels.
It's fine to be offended that they called you propagandised, but that doesn't make it less offensive to immediately say the same thing back to them. You are both insulting each other, it's not helping the Lemmygrad situation.
No need to be sorry :)
Hah I'm not saying they're right.
A few years back I had been recommended Clementine, and simply stayed with it. Recently realized Strawberry was the same idea but better and without all the annoying bugs. Can recommend!
I say yes for the music one, maybe not for the first. There are literally different materials being used and increasingly optimised-for-profit-to-effort-ratio processes. Many things are just straight up made more cheaply because we have the technology to do that.
Although for the music one, a relevant lyric comes to mind:
