I'm sure that will just push more people to get their music from soulseek and torrents.

It's better to stick with brands like Mikrotik and Ubiquiti for WiFi access points and hardware you can run OPNsense or OpenWRT on for a firewall/router.

CD-RWs are not magneto-optical. MiniDiscs are though.

You can use the private DNS function with an ad blocking DNS server like AdGuard.

I would only rip the ones that you can't download. To get a decent quality transfer from tape, you will need to connect a time base corrector between the VCR and capture card. Unfortunately, they are rather hard to find now and expensive.

I really don't like that they misused a pair of USB connectors for the GPIO. There are lots of other connectors that are much more suitable for that.

A portion of the 5GHz WiFI band overlaps with the 5.8GHz ham band too. There are also a few WiFi radios that will also work above the US WiFi band where they can operate without interference from other license free devices. Those are used in the HamWAN network.

Also watch out for any link files, .com files and .bat files.

It's been over a year since the last big Starlink outage. That's a lot better than my old DSL provider.

802.11ac was a huge improvement over 802.11n. The later versions have only given a small performance increase unless you don't have neighbors and can run wide channels.

I picked this little scope up from the Seapac swap meet a week and a half ago for $3. It turns out that all it needed was some contact cleaner to get it working again.

This is a portable scope that can run from 12V DC as well as an internal battery. I don't have the battery for it, but I could probably put some 18650's in there if I disable the built in charger.
