Wine fans have a reason to smile today. Wine 11.0 is finally here, and it is a big deal for anyone running Windows software on Linux. After a full year of work, more than six thousand code changes, and hundreds of bug fixes, Wine is moving forward in a way that feels like a turning point. This release tightens up major subsystems, improves performance, expands hardware support, and carries a big win for compatibility. If you have been waiting for Wine to feel smoother and a little less fussy, 11.0 might be the moment you jump back in.

Keep up the pressure, it still today is the only thing that seems to get under his skin.

... while walking the factory floor on his tour, someone began shouting at Trump. It's hard to make out the full sentence shouted at Trump, but it seems to have included the words "pedophile protector."

Jeffrey Epstein ... and the Dept. of Justice's slow release of the infamous Epstein Files.

In true presidential fashion, Trump responds by yelling down at the guy ... pretty clearly saying "Fuck you" before flipping him the bald eagle.

China's EAST tokamak fusion reactor has achieved a breakthrough by reaching a "density-free regime" where plasma remains stable at densities far above traditional limits[^1][^2].

Led by Professor Ping Zhu and Associate Professor Ning Yan, researchers used electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) and controlled initial fuel gas pressure during plasma startup to optimize plasma-wall interactions. This allowed them to achieve line-averaged electron densities of 1.3 to 1.65 times the Greenwald density limit, significantly higher than EAST's typical operational range of 0.8 to 1.0 times the limit[^4].

The experiments provided the first experimental validation of plasma-wall self-organization (PWSO) theory, which predicts two density regimes: a conventional density-limit regime and a density-free regime where much higher plasma densities become possible[^4].

Key findings:

  • Higher plasma density was achieved by reducing impurity radiation and improving plasma-wall interactions
  • The tungsten walls of EAST were crucial, as physical sputtering dominates over chemical sputtering
  • Results suggest a practical path to substantially increase density limits in tokamaks
  • Higher density operation is essential for achieving fusion energy breakeven and burning plasma

"The findings suggest a practical and scalable pathway for extending density limits in tokamaks and next-generation burning plasma fusion devices," said Professor Zhu[^5].

Arrests and aggressive tactics by ICE and the Border Patrol, many seen on viral videos, have intensified the frustration and fear among residents.

Jan. 13, 2026 Updated 5:23 p.m. ET

The video shows a young employee in a reflective vest being hauled away by federal agents from the entrance of a Target store in a Minneapolis suburb.

“I’m a U.S. citizen!” the worker shouted as the armed agents shoved him into an S.U.V. on Monday, after he had directed expletives at one. “U.S. citizen! U.S. citizen!”

“It feels like our community is under siege by our own federal government,” said State Representative Michael Howard, a Democrat whose district includes Richfield, where the Target employee and another colleague were seized on Monday.

Mr. Howard said both workers were U.S. citizens and were later released. The Department of Homeland Security said the Target worker seen in the video was arrested in connection with “assaulting, resisting or impeding federal officers.” It was unclear on Tuesday if the employee was charged.

It’s striking how much the arguments that Trump is not a fascist have suffered in just the first few days of this year, in which we’ve plunged to new depths of national madness.

Both ICE’s occupation of Minneapolis and Trump’s threatened seizure of Greenland are part of the same story: An increasingly unpopular regime is rapidly radicalizing and testing how far it can go down the road toward autocracy. If people had predicted back in 2024 precisely what Trump’s return to the White House was going to look like, I suspect they’d have been accused of suffering from Trump derangement syndrome. But the shrillest of Resistance libs have always understood Trump better than those who make a show of their dispassion. As the heterodox writer Leighton Woodhouse put it on X, “The hysterical pussy hats were right.”
