Her plight reflects the wider crisis in Gaza, where nearly two million people continue to live under dire conditions three months after the ceasefire.

After two years of Israeli bombardment, much of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure and public health system has been destroyed.

People had hoped the October ceasefire would bring some respite and a gradual path to recovery.

But with continued Israeli restrictions on border crossings, aid, and goods, residents feel the situation has merely shifted from an intense genocide to a slower-paced one.

Prisoners for Palestine (PFP), a group that has been supporting the families and friends of the hunger strikers, said the action - which is considered to be largest since the 1981 Irish Republican hunger strike - had achieved a number of victories, with several key demands being met.

Claiming the cancellation of Elbit's contract as a "resounding victory," it warned that the arms company's "days in Britain are numbered".

PFP that in the past few weeks alone 500 people had signed up to take direct action against weapons firms linked to Israel's genocidal war in Gaza, which it said was "more than the amount of people who took action with Palestine Action over its five-year campaign".

Additionally, civil defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal accused Israel of restricting the entry of necessary shelter, caravans and construction materials into Gaza, compounding the natural disaster unfolding in the territory.

"A new polar storm is approaching Gaza, and what lies ahead will be catastrophic," Basal warned, adding that the coming days will bring "preventable deaths".

The Government Media Office in the strip stressed in its latest press release on Tuesday that "Gaza is dying slowly", adding that more than 7,000 tents were swept away in the past two days due to the strong winds and heavy rain.

"This is especially concerning given the near-total lack of heating, the absence of safe shelter, and the severe shortage of blankets and winter clothing, coupled with the continued restrictions on the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid," it added.

EndeavourOS 2026.01.12 "Ganymede Neo" is out as the first update of the year to this Arch Linux based distribution.

Endeavour OS has been back on track after their ISO refresh hiatus last year and got back into the swing of things in November. With today's ISO release they are now powered by the Linux 6.18.4 LTS kernel while also pulling in the Mesa 25.3.3 graphics drivers, X.Org Server 21.1.21, Firefox 146, the Calamares 26.0.1.1.5 installer, and various other package updates.

Over the past few years, several AI-powered features have been added to mobile phones that allow users to better search and understand their messages. One effect of this change is increased 0-click attack surface, as efficient analysis often requires message media to be decoded before the message is opened by the user. One such feature is audio transcription. Incoming SMS and RCS audio attachments received by Google Messages are now automatically decoded with no user interaction. As a result, audio decoders are now in the 0-click attack surface of most Android phones.

I’ve spent a fair bit of time investigating these decoders, first reporting CVE-2025-49415 in the Monkey’s Audio codec on Samsung devices. Based on this research, the team reviewed the Dolby Unified Decoder, and Ivan Fratric and I reported CVE-2025-54957. This vulnerability is likely in the 0-click attack surface of most Android devices in use today. In parallel, Seth Jenkins investigated a driver accessible from the sandbox the decoder runs in on a Pixel 9, and reported CVE-2025-36934.

This is a conflation of "AI" and shitty AI companies. The AI technology, which can be fully open source, is what's here to stay and it is a useful tool. Not the end all be all by any means, but, just like a drill or hammer it has its uses. And just like a drill or hammer, you can use it for improper use but get a less optimal result

Boycotting the tech itself, to include full open source and selfhosted AI is what's not going to work, but the shitty companies probably will come and go.

The real solution is to roll up the sleeves and built an a version of this technology that's open, transparent, and community driven.

No, the solution is to educate the general populace about the extreme harms of AI on our economy and our environment and our sovereignty and our education and to show them that we're getting absolutely nothing in exchange except for lining the pockets of CEOs and twist the arm of the gov to get involved in some sort of regulation...

Both of these things can happen, AI can be harmful. Any tool can be harmful and for dangerous ones we do educate people, to varying degrees depending on the tool. And just like any tool, it has its restrictions AND promote open and transparent systems over the ones that do line CEO pockets

Try the good wikipedia source, not propaganda-wiki

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tankie

Tankie is a pejorative label generally applied to authoritarian communists, especially those who support or defend acts of repression by such regimes, their allies, or deny the occurrence of the events thereof.

While I agree with the mindset, I share the same view, some of your details are kinda...barbaric

permanent private living space of at least 80sqft

That's the size where prison cells float around. Iirc there was a study done that concluded that for an average person to remain mentally healthy they need at least 3-400 sq ft per person. Allowances must be made for families and partners

even if only some flavorless nutritional paste

Shit, that's been widely considered to be cruel and unusual punishment for prisoners. There's a balance between "not even good enough for prisoners" and "Lobsters every night"

if you have no ambition in life beyond sitting in that little room staring at the wall and eating soylent

Yeaaa there's plenty of other ways to entice people to work or to aspire. You don't need to make people eat flavorless paste, just luxury material goods alone would be enough. Like a decent smartphone, games, attractions (amusement parks, circuses etc), electronics etc. Plus most people want to work anyways just to have something to do

If we enacted your plan as-is, the suicide rate would skyrocket lol

This is more of a problem with the pizza places around you and I'm sorry they're doing your area so dirty :(

But across 3 states for me, the pizza places you expect their quality to be is the quality I've generally gotten (like little Caesars is bottom tier and then local good places are top tier etc)

I hope your pizza joints get their head out of their asses so you can get good pizza delivered again lol
