I think a better analogy would be: it's like if you bought an MP3 and the company expected you to delete it after you listened to it once, or pay for it again.

The piracy analogy would apply more for farmers sharing seeds.

Any time I post someone on Venmo, I send it privately. Any time someone pays me, it's always sent publicly.

I'm not a privacy nut, and that doesn't bother me so much as I just don't understand why you'd want these transactions being public.

Why does anyone need or want to know that I paid the neighbor kid to more my lawn?

Up vote almost everything. Unless you hate it, or are completely indifferent to it, up vote it.

I don't see anything wrong with it. What's the issue?

I hate that Shelly only does WiFi. I'm a big fan of Zigbee and would love more options.

Sonoff has some really nice Zigbee relays that compete with some of the Shelly products.

I don't know how they are for longevity, but I'm extremely pleased with the two Shark vacuums we own. We own a bed and breakfast so they get out to heavy use.

I'm going to up vote and ruin this, but document for posterity.

I have a Yale PIN lock that has swappable wireless cards. I use it on a Zigbee network, but that's completely optional. It's fantastic. Even without the wireless, it's great.

I've had to reprogram it once or twice just due to issues with my smart home stuff, and even the physical interface is nice and easy, assuming you're just entering your PIN or if you have the manual available if you're doing anything more involved.

Pre hard mode is pretty basic today, but was pretty neat back when it came out.

Post hard mode is a lot more interesting. I'd say don't give up on it until you get there.

Surely Donald "finish the job" Trump won't be worse for Israel, and literally everything else.

I used to be local to Onyx. I really enjoyed their coffees. They are pretty pretentious, though.

I have a very similar story, only I went with Bazzite, and now Aurora.

I was using 11 and honestly didn't hate it, but I could see the writing on the wall. The Steam Deck showed me what I could do with Linux, do I just did it.
