It would have to be a physical plate or film in the phone. I doubt they would add moving parts.

Kind of hard to fix that, since it's a fundamental feature of optics (light vergence increases the closer you get to an object). The only thing a phone can do is increase the font size lol. Otherwise you have to wear glasses of some sort, or contacts.

How is it possible to compare new phones to old? Newer batteries always have less degradation than old, even if the old phone is completely unused.

Apple and Google are already deeply intertwined. Might as well call them "frenemies" rather than direct competitors.
