They fired Kimmel to appease Trump and used Kirk as an excuse. And a piss poor excuse at that.
This was inevitable since Colbert was canceled, assassination or not. They were just waiting for an excuse and jumped at the chance. But, with an excuse like this, appologizing statements that were never made, they may as well have said Kimmel ran away to live on a farm. That might have actually been more believable.

Robinson: no, they grabbed some crazy old dude, then interrogated someone in similar clothing. I had planned to grab my rifle from my drop point shortly after, but most of that side of town got locked down. Its quiet, almost enough to get out, but theres one vehicle lingering.
Roommate: Why?
Robinson: Why did I do it?
Roommate: Yeah
Robinson: I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out.
Robinson: If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on. I haven't seen anything about them finding it.
Roommate: How long have you been planning this?
Robinson: a bit over a week I believe. I can get close to it but there is a squad car parked right by it. I think they already swept that spot, but I don't wanna chance it
Robinson: I'm wishing I had circled back and grabbed it as soon as I got to my vehicle.... I'm worried what my old man would do if I didn't bring back grandpas rifle ... idek if it had a serial number, but it wouldn't trace to me. I worry about prints I had to leave it in a bush where I changed outfits. didn't have the ability or time to bring it with.... I might have to abandon it and hope they don't find prints. how the [expletive] will I explain losing it to my old man....
only thing I left was the rifle wrapped in a towel....

I agree, it's blatantly obvious that Kimmel was not canceled because of any Kirk comments since he didn't really make any. That is, however, what the network claims they canceled him for. My bad for not highlighting that in the post, I'll update it.
And Samsung just got rid of ads in their apps, like Samsung Health, a few years ago. One step forward, two sprints back.

Extra crazy because he didn't even speak poorly of Charlie or say any distasteful comments. He didn't even really make a statement about the situation at all. He just said MAGA is trying to categorize the shooter as not them and played some clips of Trump being 100000x more interested in the new Whitehouse ballroom than the public assassination of his dear friend.
You can't cancel someone over comments they didn't make. This is pandering, plain as day. Same reason Colbert got canceled.
Erm, achooillee, he tried to give debt relief to poor "people", money personally taken by pet-eating illegal caravans from MY minimum wage paycheck that could have gone to my boss's boss's boss's boss's boss's boss's multi-billionare boss's twelfth yacht fund before trickling down to ME. And he was SLEEPY.
