Pausing my Russian learning, and picking up Spanish. I already know a Romance language, so it should be easier, hopefully. Trying the LR method with the "Las Tinieblas y el Alba" book redtea recommended.

Section 1

  1. Do you have an account on ProleWiki?

I don't.

  1. If not, why?

I don't think I know enough to contribute in some aspects. I think I could contribute sometimes, like transcribing Parenti videos and with niche knowledge I have about some Socialist countries.

  1. Were you aware that having an account on ProleWiki allows you to edit pages and participate in the editor community?

Yes, I'm decently familiar with Mediawiki.

Section 2

  1. How often do you visit ProleWiki in a week or month?

I like browsing ProleWiki quite a lot, it has useful knowledge about worldwide workers' movements I didn't know before. I'd say more than 5 times per week, it depends.

  1. What keeps you coming back to ProleWiki?

The Marxist viewpoint which I can't find without prior searching. Also the sources are great.

  1. What impact has ProleWiki had on you? Either positive or negative (please detail)

I'd say a positive impact as I managed to find a couple of good sources from there and expand my knowledge.

Section 3

  1. Where do you feel ProleWiki is lacking?

More country-specific details such as Socialism in Czechoslovakia, and more information about different Marxists.

Please take a page you remember that you didn’t entirely like and provide your criticism of it, not only on the content but on the phrasing as well.

Czechoslovakia on ProleWiki - could be much more detailed. Although I personally don't know enough about Czechoslovakia to contribute, so perhaps more knowledgeable comrades could fill it up if it's on the priority list. It's just an example though.

Treaty on the Creation of the USSR - doesn't exist

1936 Soviet Constitution - doesn't exist

  1. How would you rate the language and tone used on ProleWiki from 1 to 10? With 1 being casual (as if between friends), and 10 being academic (as if presenting a paper to an auditorium).

It's good in my opinion. About 8.

  1. Do you perceive ProleWiki to be a credible encyclopedia?

Yes, much more than Wikipedia.

Section 4

  1. How would you like to see ProleWiki evolve?

The historic articles are great, so I'd definitely like more of that. Perhaps I could contribute a little.

  1. Were you aware we had a Library of texts? (https://en.prolewiki.org/wiki/ProleWiki:Library)

Yes, it's the feature of the Wiki I use the most. It's very useful.

  1. If yes, how do you feel about the card system for categorization?

It's great, better than before I'd say. Although the old one being text-based was a bit more easier to search in a way.

Edit: I'll probably sign up

Shortly before the plane crash in the Tver region, Evgeny Prigozhin met with the President of the Central African Republic

According to WSJ sources, Prigozhin's plane landed in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, on August 18. At a meeting with President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, the businessman said that the failed attempt at a rebellion in Russia in June would not interfere with the work of PMCs in the republic. Prigozhin promised to strengthen the presence of PMC Wagner in the Central African Republic to ensure the security of the authorities and "promote new investments in agriculture," one of the interlocutors said.

The next day, Prigozhin met with representatives of the Sudanese Rapid Response Force (RSF, clashes began between them and the Sudanese Armed Forces in mid-April; the armed conflict continues to this day). PMC "Wagner", according to the publication, helped the RSF to win a series of victories against the army of Sudan, including the capture of one of the military enterprises and the base in Khartoum. In response, the publication claims, representatives of the Rapid Reaction Forces handed over gold to Prigozhin. Then the businessman went to Mali, and from there to Moscow.

lemmy.one is privacyguides dot org's Lemmy instance. They have some good advice, but it has the usual "we prefer the West over others" mentality and et al.

Hi comrades! This is my first time on Lemmygrad, so I apologise for the abrupt introduction. I saw there's an introduction community, although it seems abandoned. I'll consider making a post later today perhaps in this community, if you have better ideas for where it should fit, please let me know!

How do you deal personally with expressing affection towards family, lovers etc.? Capitalism has definitely commodified affection/love/relationships in every aspect (e.g. Valentine's day), so it's hard to not fall in for "consumerist love". Obviously, a type of affection and compassion I'd argue are integral for the wellbeing of any society, although invidiualism as we know hardly promotes this.

The culture also creates expectations of how affection and any type of relationship should be "performed". Corporations such as Disney which have a near monopoly on all expressions of late-capitalist culture often set stereotypes through the media they present to us, a good example being the Aladdin animated movie which is very racist, or Tarzan which was not popular until Disney animated it and made a friendlier version of its story. Thus this gives birth to lots of unrealistic expectations and pressures, because we feel we have to "perform" to our friends, family and lovers like we're on a stage. This ties in and is reflected in the usage of social media, we can see unrealistic body expectations, although mostly in the cishet space as far as I know, please correct me if I'm wrong. I think it's a combination of factors, first off the culture sets everyone up regarding expectations then they're exacerbated on mainstream social media such as Instagram.

Now regarding a more personal aspect, I find that I have a hard time showing affection, even to family. Some people naturally express their emotions well, while I find myself not even going for hugs, and so on. I mostly internally justify it as "oh the other person would think it's awkward," perhaps it's a lack of communication on my side. More often than not, this resulted in people thinking that I'm uninterested in them (as in friendship or a relationship), or even in an extreme case someone thought I hated them which was definitely not the case. I'm more of an introvert, although when I get to know the person better I become rather extroverted with them, so I think I'm ambiverted. I want to learn to express my emotions better through creating mostly, although I have yet to find a good creative process to suit me other than writing, which I enjoy. I think social anxiety plays a role in this, also the fact that I overthink most social encounters and exaggerate to myself how the other person understands my actions.

I'd love to hear your experiences and opinions regarding the subject!
