Their time seems to be off. I got a time is ahead dialog on my phone, which gets its time automatically.
Now it might just be my bias, but I feel O'Brien was taunting trolling, while the hard-right guy was posturing. Of the two, I expect the hard-right guy to be more of the unstable child in the situation, but also agree probably not willing to actually fight. With O'Brien or however it's spelled, I feel like getting that reaction was his win... but again probably a lot of personal bias.
Substitute Hitler for a religious figure. Yes, I know, religious figures at least have mythology surrounding them to explain why they're still relevant. Anyone could just make that up about Hitler too though.
Like everything else, it's just fragile masculinity. They heard soy has estrogen (it does, but not in the same form that would affect you), but lack the ability to verify facts or understand nuance, so they just assume soy feminizes a person. They take that as an attack on their manhood. Then they get stupid and violent... well... stupider.
