It’s been years since they ditched that officially.

Here in NL, you can get a 9 letter/digit code from the app or website to write (or print) on the envelope. For example:

A 8 F

2 C D

5 P V

Only managed to travel to Japan once but really loved walking around. Metros and trains were quite approachable even without a smartphone.

Definitely the most mobile I’d felt without a car at that point in my life!

Damn man, that’s rough.

U-turns are quite a dangerous manoeuvre and really need to be executed properly to ensure safety.

I remember taking my Colorado drivers licence and it wasn’t covered at all in the written/practical exam. I practiced a couple times at traffic lights with a turn arrow with my parents but that was it.

For my Dutch lesson license (we rent a car a few times a year) u-turns and 3-pt turns were covered extensively. How fast you are going and which mirrors you’re checking in which order. They also test these “special manoeuvres” in the practical exam in a very healthy way. The roads also have a lot more medians which helps blunt driver stupidity.

Cars are the worst…

I think a ban would cause more travel by car which is a worse outcome IMO.

However, as a 🦵-biker, I’m not sad about 25 kph speed limiters. At least in the Dutch context.

Can you explain the u-turn scenario?

The apartment we bought came with an old 18” dishwasher.

We run it daily with two adults and it works great. Even though you need to run it more often, it’s takes less time to empty than a full size.

For our current layout it makes a lot of sense but would want a full size if the family grows.

If I was single I would prefer the smaller format. I find it kinda nasty to have my dirty dishes standing for many days.

I use proton mail but otherwise I would probably stick with the default iOS.

I self-host caldav with radicale and use native Debian/ios calendar apps. Immich to replace Google photos was especially satisfying.

Did a bit of 8-axis multitool with my previous job (mostly work on a proprietary slicer), and one main takeaway was to not be afraid of editing gcode.

I would probably start with a script to merge the files and then build a basic plugin for my slicer to do the job.

I’m sure more user friendly options are around the corner!
