I loved pvz back in the day, before it got junked up by EA. I have no idea what the state of the game is anymore. Curious if this would be worth playing for a bit of nostalgia.
catalyst
I personally settled on 5:1 or 2.5oz gin 0.5oz vermouth. I like what vermouth adds to the drink but I want the gin to be the star of the show.
As for garnish, I find myself preferring a lemon twist most of the time. If I am in the mood for an olive instead I may give it a quick rinse so that I’m not adding a ton of brine to my drink.
Ah, that’s too bad. 😞
Increased the frequency of lap-type courses
This sounds like a good change, and perhaps a sign they are hearing the feedback. I still want a mode that is only lap type races.
Yes! I actually loved the narrator in this. “Click the undog, er, undo button.”
Love it! And a great choice considering Wing is now celebrating 30 years.
It really was incredible. Especially back then when I hadn’t had much exposure yet to that style of music. The fact that it was CD quality instead of midi really helped.
I vividly remember discovering how you could just put the game disk in a regular CD player and it’d work. Kinda blew my mind lol.
Adding this to my wish list!
Man I friggin loved Descent II. Game was so fun and immersive. I watched that opening cinematic over and over. The soundtrack was fantastic as well.
I later went and played Descent 1 as well but 2 was the one I played the most.
2 also has the thief bot which while infuriating also lead to some of the most memorable gameplay for me. Just chasing that little piece of shit to the ends of the earth and then feeling so triumphant when I finally nabbed it and got my stuff back.
Wow! I somehow never knew this bug existed. I guess it’s been a long time since I played this one. 😅
Now, how about fixing game-breaking bugs on the Switch version of Portal 2?
Think we all knew Yoru wasn’t gonna go out that easily.
“No… why did I remember?” The tears in her eyes as the realization hits. She knows how bad this is. But we also witness it leveling her up in real time as fear of war increases.
Good shit.
I actually read this monthly as it was coming out! There’s a lot that I liked - the art is gorgeous, the world building, and it does a great job of introducing neat ideas or antagonists that come back around later in interesting ways.
Spoilery thoughts
I did not care much for the final volume. For one, it completely sucks the air out of the sails by doing a big jump from the cliffhanger of the previous volume. But more importantly it’s just bleak as hell. The ending was so nihilistic it made me question the whole series. And then there’s Grant McKay. He starts the series as a piece of shit, and also ends the series as a piece of shit. Rather than rehabilitating his character through actions and repentance, the book instead chooses to give him a list of get-out-of-jail-free cards (had a terrible mom, Rebecca was actually using him in the affair so turns out he was the victim all along). That never sat particularly well with me either.
All in all I enjoyed the ride a heck of a lot and wanted to like the story but found myself frustrated by certain elements near the finale. I think I could still cautiously recommend it to folks who love sci-fi and parallel dimensions given a heaping grain of salt that it is a fun if imperfect series.
