In my experience, my wife flip flops a bit between accepting and feeling sad about it. Sometimes our conversations are similar to yours: practical, forward thinking, assuming I'll transition, etc. Other times, our conversations are more reflective, sadder, concerned about the future, uncertain about my transition, etc. We've decided to put a pause on conversations about it. As you can see from my post history, I'm still leaning towards HRT, but I'm running into a lot of insurance blockers that make it difficult. I'm now considering the DIY route, but it's kinda complicated looking. Not too bad, but it requires learning a lot of stuff I was hoping my doctors would figure out for me.

I hope your journey goes well! I'll probably be on this community fairly frequently over the coming months.

Thanks for the guide. It sounds like it's mostly a cost based issue then? The DIY route seems a bit more expensive than insurance, but it's fairly reasonable.

How do you handle injections? I feel like it'd be super hard to put a needle in me. I've never done something like that before.

Edit I watched a video on how to do it. Doesn't actually look too bad. I hate needles, but for some reason the 45deg. angle and pinching the skin made it seem less daunting.

That's fair. I can try giving them a call, but most of my experience on UHC phone trees end up frustrating and unhelpful.

I just finished the first climb of the mountain. Awesome game. So stressful though lol

It's true you know.

Sorry that I'm late to the party. My egg cracked last month. 31 MTF and I'm also figuring things out. My wife is also cis and she's also struggling to support me. I've been all over the emotional map these days. I have a daughter, but she's only a baby so maybe that's a bit easier to deal with. I'm not really through this journey so I'm not much help in terms of advice, but you're definitely not alone.

Thanks that's helpful as well! I'll check it out

This is probably what I should do. I didn't consider it because my PC was kind of weird for me. I didn't enjoy talking with him and he kind of had some less-than-progressive takes. I'm going to find a new PC and setup an appointment with them. Maybe I can even do a virtual visit.

It doesn't really address those deeper questions about fertility though. I feel like I need a chart or something that shows what meds impact fertility, how quickly, how likely, etc.

Ok I played for 90min so far and Celeste is hard! It's fun though

I've done some preliminary research on this topic, but – crucially – I don't have a gym available to me. I originally thought I should just start running to lose weight, but some people say running can be bad if you're trying to form a feminine physique. I think their claim was: you lose weight, but you might also lose fat/muscle where you want it.

So, what are you folks doing?

  • Yoga?
    • What kind of yoga and where do you source the education materials?
  • At home workouts?
    • Are body weight squats enough?
    • What about glutes?

What about diet? Do y'all drink alcohol at all? I typically eat vegan (80% of the time). How do you manage your diet?

I know Arch is all about minimalism, but I'm also limited on time and I just wanted to get a working GUI. Is it a huge faux pas to install all the default packages?

It's nice to know that they don't even have the propensity to care if I'm trans. They aren't perfect (my cat is a gremlin and my dog loves to dig), but I don't care. They are the best. My dog and cat have comforted me in my worst moments.

We are so lucky to live in a world where pets exist. Domesticated animals weren't a guarantee for us; especially cutesy predators. It's pretty awesome that we have mini wolves and tigers that hang out with us. Their love is pure <3

I'm a Software Engineer and I want to feel closer to the trans community. I live in a rural, remote, area and I don't have much of a chance of meeting fellow trans folks. I was wondering if there are publicly "trans" software. E.g., web applications that might help trans individuals, software that's just branded LGBTQ+, trans developers that need help in their repositories, etc. I don't have a ton of free time, but after my child goes to sleep (around 7pm-8pm) I find myself a bit idle. It might be nice to work on something passively a little here and there that supports the trans community in a small way.
