By Lando's own driving, he agrees with you!

Also don't rush it. True for most similar tasks. You can always take a break and maybe you should!

And charging >$100 for it. To each their own...

I've had success with this in exactly this situation

Call of Cthulhu has the best general system which is the most intuitive and easy to run that I have tried. All your skills are percentages so it takes people no time at all to learn the basics and rolls are fast. So the rules get out of the way of the story.

Delta Green is an extension of this and one of my favourites to run. The main rules change is that when your character suffers stress, you can choose to defer the points hit to your characters friends and family (Bonds, in game parlance). These degrading relationships can then play out as roleplay later as your character begins to lose their grip.

I remember finally building a new PC that was halfway decent and wanting to play some quake 3 mods. So this would have been around 2005??

Broadband was here so I wanted to take advantage of that sweet low ping but needed a physical copy of the game for the mods to work.

Even then it was hard to source a game disc but I got it and had a few years of fun playing urban terror... I can't really be bothered with online shooters now but back then it was simple, quick and fun. There's too much going on in things like Apex and Overwatch for me.

Also my PC basically has a console setup in the living room and I play with a switch controller, so I'd get destroyed anyway!

Can someone unpick this for me yes yes no style?

You already got so much feedback but I'll chuck one in for the Logitech MX anywhere. Its smaller than the master version but has USBC charging which is important for me, so I only need one cable to charge everything, I make a point to try and get USBC products (keyboard, action cam, bike lights, headphones etc)

Seems like a reasonably well researched. Be great if someone got off their arse and did something about it, as the article suggests.

Be great to show a map of all these dive shops along with who the landlord is for each.

I'm visiting Rotterdam next week and usually when I'm there I catch the formula 1 at Panenka. Devastated to hear it is closed! Nicest sports bar I've ever been in. Is there anywhere similar in the city to watch F1 on the big screen with drinks, with a nice atmosphere? Or in Utrecht maybe?

EDIT > we went to paddy's near the WTC and it was really a lot nicer than I expected, just in case anyone arrives on this post in the future

m.2 SATA SSD advice (lemmy.world)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by calamitycastle@lemmy.world to c/buildapc@lemmy.world

I'm waiting on a standoff kit to come in the mail, as this is my next troubleshooting step

I bought this SSD to fit into a thin client. I am new to stick drives so I think it's correct that I can only insert it one way due to the M-key (my port only has one divider, unlike the memory stick).

I don't have a standoff so the stick is in but at a slight angle.

The PC has no operating system yet so is it correct that a blank drive should show up in the BIOS at least? It shows the m.2 slot as being empty currently. Or is it potentially readable as is, but needs something on it to format it?

The plan is to chuck Debian on it to boot into, via a thumb drive, but I wanted to make sure it was at least installed correctly (I mean, it isn't because it should have a standoff).

If when my standoff kit arrives, the drive still doesn't show in the BIOS what would you recommend I do next?

EDIT: thank you so much for the advice so far! I added a standoff and I can now see 500Gb in the BIOS. Truthfully it might have already been recognised, there is a section for M.2 in the BIOS which was reading empty but it also lists primary hard drive and it's showing up there. Now to install me some Debian

I'm watching it and trying to figure out if it's like a parody video or a serious recommendation?

The comments on the video are super weird as well. Can someone please tell me I'm not going crazy and that the majority of the people in the YT comments have been huffing solvents / aren't real?

Also fishing for any good 'best way to clean your drivetrain' videos that are less weird and potentially wrong

Watching the f1 academy live and it's crazy that they're still on the track, trundling around behind the safety car

Anyone Europe side know of a good easily removable bike light set that recharges with USB-C?

I had knog blinders on my recently stolen bike which I liked but they were USB-A and it was starting to get annoying to recharge them

Please forgive the annoying asking for info post

I have 100Gb of stuff on Google drive and I want to move it in house, I guess via Nextcloud? At the same time I want to try things like self hosting Notesnook and a few other things like ad blocking the home network etc

I was going to try starting with a raspberry pi 5 with 8Gb of ram and an SSD and some form of Linux obvs but in my limited reading I've seen that's very not recommended for Nextcloud.

Key things are low power usage/quiet, I'm not THAT fussed about download speed to other devices but keen to avoid as much lock in as possible. Budget around £200-300 to start with.

I've seen recommendations for thin clients, kinda like the idea of a NUC but they're pricy for the form factor. Having it be small would be a plus but I do have an old windows 8 machine from 2013 in the cupboard in an ATX case but the power supply draw feels like it would be excessive

Hints appreciated or tell me which community to go check, thanks in advance

EDIT: Thanks for all the hints!

Sadly haven't had a chance to play myself yet but having watched a few character creation videos now, it really seems like the most fun system and creates powerful back stories and motivations

Hoping someone can offer some advice. I'm working on a late 80s Raleigh Montage, 88 I think. It has a u-brake on the rear which dates it.

Anyway I have it all stripped down, including the cup and cone bb.

The only thing I can't seem to remove are the headset cups, as the headtube is slightly flared on the inside top and bottom, so I can't get the tool to make contact with the edge of the cup.

What am I missing here? How do I get these out?

The jail sentences handed out today seem completely insane to me, not least considering the overcrowding of jails that's been reported. Even if they had tons of space it seems like madness.

I can well understand people's reservations about JSO's general tactics but at the same time, what alternative is offered by their detractors?

Personally I don't feel as though Labour or the Democrats stateside are doing, or planning on doing, anything close to enough to tackle our impact on the climate.

What do you think?

I have some cotton velox rim tape but it's not very sticky and so I'm struggling to apply it to my rims.

Can I just use a few dots of superglue here and there to stick it down?

Please let me know in non spoiler mode, isn't this game made by Brits? I'm literally going through the foot tunnel to the north side and thinking "the den is thataway" (west)
