thanks for your consideration! I had a similar experience to Ash and just never liked it. Too much of my childhood spent being called a f-- for it to ever feel good. Although I guess getting over that is part of the process of reclamation.

I had been calling them to no success. Found a comrade who can spot me, and also found out I can schedule a 'fifteen minute telehealth appointment' with 24h notice. Which like good to know now but goddamn.

There are certain things that are technically OTC in Canada that are not in the US. Having a US script allows them to be transported across the border or shipped to the US legally and there is a cottage industry of Canadian pharmacies on this angle.

E: oh yeah, I was only talking about insulin lol.

Finally paid all my bills and found a new endocrinologist! Getting out of my depression and clearing the stack of stressors chewing up my bandwidth which is getting me further out of my depression.

Visiting my mom and I can hear her husband snoring through two doors. Bro sounds like a jet engine in there no wonder she's tired so much.

Hint: They invest heavily in R&D.

Huawei has 207,000 employees globally, according to its website, and 55.6 per cent are research and development personnel. This is up from the end of 2021, when the company said it employed 195,000 people, with 54.8 per cent of them in R&D.

I work in education. Earlier today, I was accidentally out of the room during morning announcements (I'm usually sitting in the back). When I came in, the pledge of allegiance was going HARD. It took all my willpower to prevent myself from sprinting to my desk to sit down so I wouldn't be standing during the pledge of allegiance (fascist brainwashing!).

Evidently, my behavior was conspicuous and my coteacher asked 'Are you an objector?'

Sheepishly, I replied "...yeah."

On 9/11 of all days.

NOTE: I am NOT a medical essentialist. You DO NOT need to want or be on HRT to be trans. Beginning HRT was important for me and was the first time it felt 'real', and since 9/11 is a funny day, I chose that to mark my tranniversary.

I spent a lot of time in the week leading up to it coming up with the funniest handful of songs to listen as and after I took my first pills. I listened to these in a pharmacy bathroom around 1:30 PM four years ago.

  • 'Only Time' Enya
  • 'Celebration' Kool & the Gang
  • 'Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon' Neil Diamond
  • 'Don't Stop me Now' Queen
  • 'At Last' Etta James
  • Don't Know Why' Nora Jones
  • 'Inside and Out' Feist
  • 'Changes' David Bowie
  • 'Labour of Love' Frente!

I am not especially tech-literate and very clumsy. I want to buy a thinkpad that I can set up as a privacy machine. I mostly use my computer for web browsing and messaging and don't need something especially powerful, just something that can run bloated web pages easily and I won't have to think about again for at least half a decade.

Ideally, I want something around $300. Does anyone have recommendations for models to shop for? Anything the size of the T-Series would be adequate. I'm not a gamer or do video editing so no graphics card requirements.

I am thinking something like the T470 but wonder how futureproof that would be.

The essay focuses on bananas as a symbol of the fruits of imperialism enjoyed by workers in the imperial metropole. As global revolution happens, the predatory and inhumane supply chains that currently bring bananas to the core will be dismantled while new supply chains are established; there cannot be a simple 'transference' of these chains from the imperialists to the workers and so there will be a period without bananas in the imperial core.

One note I want to add is to emphasize the joy of international solidarity during this process. We should not mourn bananas. Instead, we should celebrate our sisters in the Global Periphery breaking the brutal chains that bind them to plantations, to artisan mines, to unventilated factories. The joy of liberation is infinitely greater than the joy of consumption.

As an injury to one is an injury to all, so is the liberation of one the liberation of all!

This is a great, subtle sweet you can make. You can also tone down the sugar a little bit and have it as an appetizer for a big dinner, or as the main course of a picnic. Below is the basic recipe plus a few extra steps depending on how much effort you want to put in.

There are lots of great opportunities to add aromatics and add some herbal flavors that are not often found in candies.

Ingredients

  • 10 Large Dates
  • 4 oz. Walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Neutral or coconut oil
  • 1/4 c. Corn Syrup/Maple Syrup/Similar
  • Spices (optional, I like coriander and black pepper)

Directions

  1. In a small pot, boil enough water to just-cover the dates and boil for five minutes till dates are tender
  2. Slice dates lengthwise (like a hotdog bun) and remove pit. Careful dates may be hot.
  3. In a small pan, heat oil on medium-low and add nuts stirring frequently. If using whole fat-soluble spices like peppercorns or coriander, add now.
  4. Once nuts are mostly toasted, about 2-4 minutes, gradually add syrup while stirring vigorously. If using a thin syrup, optionally add 1-2 tsp of corn starch to nuts immediately before adding syrup to aid thickening. If using less heat-tolerant or ground spices such as red pepper, add now. You can also add other flavorings and extracts like bitters, vanilla, and molasses!
  5. Continue stirring as syrup reduces and carmelizes.
  6. Once nut-syrup mixture reaches desired consistency, spoon as much filling into each date as will fit and gently squeeze dates around the filling.

Extra Steps for Tryhards

  1. Deglaze nut pan with liqouer of choice, brandy, oil, or balsamic vinegar. Once pan is deglazed, add ~1/8 c of balsamic vinegar and 1/8 c of syrup and reduce under low heat until a very thick syrup is formed. Stir continuously and scrape the bottom of the pan so sugar does not burn.
  2. Dip each candy into the mixture or arrange candies on a baking sheet and pour overtop.

AND/OR

  1. Arrange candies tightly onto a baking sheet and genorously sprinkle brown sugar overtop.
  2. Brulee the top OR place under broiler for about 45 seconds until sugar begins to burn.
