It's worse than tide pods somehow.

Tide pods was a challenge, a incredibly stupid and lethal one but one that was not presented as anything else than the stupidest dare ever.

This is apparently presented as a health tip (complete with the usual "detox" pseudoscience bullshit). Fuck these assholes.

Count me in the people who had no idea windows had a command line package manager-style tool.

Does it look for its stuff in the windows store?

L'expérience sociale est intéressante, on peut aussi vérifier si les vieux ont des insultes plus créatives que les gamins de 12 ans sur Call of Duty.

It is.

Sarah Z made a video where she gets into some of the darker parts of Replika's concept and evolution. It's a fairly stinky business model.

That doesn't sit right with me. It sounds to me, in that moment, like they're implying that people from other cultures could be less moral, and that we should be willing to be more free with our weapons towards such people.

This is, unfortunately, how many, many very religious people think. And it's not only insulting for everyone not following their beliefs, but also terrifying in my opinion.

People who believe their god is the only thing that makes them moral aren't really moral. Because then they never consider why it's important to, you know, not be an asshole. It's just compliance.

And the terrifying part is that since their only frame of reference regarding what "good" is would be whatever their religion dictates, it's always on the verge of breaking completely. You just need to listen to the wrong interpretation at the wrong moment in your life.

Wait, what? I really can't understand why they'd port it without touch input.

Even weirder is that Grindstone, another Capy game, has touch control on Switch. I guess someone else might have done the Clash of Heroes port.

I had the game on DS too, really liked it. I tried the android port that already had the enhanced visuals, but because of the weird orientation choice it was almost impossible to play on a phone screen, units were way too small for capacitive input. I'm sure on a larger screen it would have been no problem.

No Man's Sky's UI is almost entirely through cursors, drag and drop etc.

Even choosing between a couple dialog options used to require moving a pointer over buttons but they finally fixed that at some point. Now with a controller you can just select the answers right away.

You've unlocked some deeply buried memory there.

I remember I used that not so much to "accelerate" downloads but mostly because it let me download stuff in multiple sessions, instead of trying to do it in my browser and lose everything because of a lost connection.

Hours to download a few MB, interesting times.

That's a bit funny, I remember a time when original Splatoon got its first test event (before release) on the Wii U and there was a lot of people raging about the "terrible" motion controls that didn't let them use sticks like a normal game.

Really, complaints everywhere for days, claims that the game was ruined before even releasing, memes about Nintendo and their love of motion controls...

A few people started to comment saying "wait, it's nice, actually it kinda works" but they were still mostly drowned in the outrage.

All of that disappeared very fast once the game was released, and it became one of the few Wii U games to get some attention.

Big difference, humble, like other stores, is a key seller. There are plenty of legit ways to get e.g. Steam keys from stores that have a partnership with Steam. Humble, Gog, and lots of others sell completely legit keys.

Sometimes indie even include a Steam key themselves if you purchase their game from elsewhere, like their own site (like Rimworld) or itch.io (like Dwarf Fortress).

The shady part with G2A etc, the resellers, is that they get their keys from... anywhere really. They buy and resell "second-hand" keys and don't care where they may come from, which is why some end up cancelled when the publisher discovers they were acquired illegally.

And especially among small publishers and indie, the resellers are a huge pain in the ass because in the end cancelling the keys is their decision, and they know it won't be popular. Most of the time the end user believes the game is being unjustly removed from their library because they have paid for it. Many don't even realize that it matters who is being paid.
