Radio is a Foreign Country, they have their own website, but it has never really worked for me. Music from all around the world.

Also recommend Radio Garden, which lets you listen to radios from all over the world. Sometimes it has featured "posts" with channel recommendations from people, like Brian Eno and such. It's one of the best things on the internet. They have an app as well.

soma.fm is the shit. Most of the channels are great, but there is no better place for ambient music than Drone Zone.

Lol, almost mentioned Tenhi in my OP, but I figured since they're Finnish no-one is gonna know them either way. One of my favorite bands.

E: Also have to point out, they have "official" translations for their lyrics on their website all the way up to the previous to last album, done by the band themselves afaik. They're not entirely a 100% accurate and they've taken some fairly big creative liberties in translating them, but close enough and since they're official I give them a pass. Cool to see they get appreciated abroad, they're not very well known over here back home.

Love John Dowland as well.

E2: Just in case anyone is interested:

Sometimes, yes, I absolutely agree, maybe even often. Not all songwriters, as great of a performer they might be for most of their songs, are the best performers for so many of their own songs. Good examples are Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen (Cohen after the first 3-4 albums wasn't IMO the best performer of his own songs) and Jeff Buckley's version; lots of Isaac Hayes' versions of other peoples' songs, most of all By the Time I Get to Phoenix

but the best example I can think of is A Song for You, written by Leon Russell, but Donny Hathaway takes it to a completely different fucking universe and makes it his own. That song is heartbreaking performed by him, Jesus.

Damn that's good, doesn't scratch the itch I have, but great new artist found. Thanks.

Well here's to Shane then! We have a saying that might be roughly translated as: "May the soil be light on your grave.". Cheers for all the tunes. Rest in peace.

Again, peanut butter is used plenty in noodles and noodle soups and it works great. Each to their own though. Just saying. Abomination is literally exaggering it. Literally learned to use peanut butter with noodles from Asian people.

Peanut butter is going too far but american fucking cheese is fine? I don't even wanna know what they put in that shit to make you call want to eat it so much.

Peanut butter is used in noodles and asian cooking plenty and it's great.

I just found this community, but if you're still looking for recommendations I think you might like The Great Annihilator and White Light from the Mouth of Infinity albums. Then maybe Children of God if those hit the spot, their sound is fairly varied, they've been going for four decades.

Their early stuff is amazing as well (Holy Money is top 3 for me), but it's quite a bit different - rougher and heavier and a lot more industrial influenced.

Individual songs: Killing for Company, I Am the Sun, Failure, Fool (#2) (if it starts with piano it's the right version), Love Will Save You, Song for Dead Time (mg version), She Lives, Trust Me, Like A Drug, You're Not Real Girl.

Legendary Finnish black metal album and fuck what a banger of an opening song.

Highly recommend checking out the whole album, it is really amazing: I Never Learn.

Chelsea's new song.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. I love Chelsea Wolfe. Holy shit this new song is amazing. Holy shit...

...

Whispers in the echo chamber of my mind

In the void they come alive and intertine

In the void I saw all I ever wanted

Beyond reality, beyond the binary

Bathing in the blood of who I used to be

Offering up all my imperfect offerings

Become my own fantasy

Twist the old self into poetry

And I've been punished, I've been blessed

Surrounded by living ghosts, you see

I thought I had to swallow them bеfore they swallowed mе

But you only know the one I've been

I've shed a thousand skins since then

A curse upon the monster of more

That shit does not define me anymore

Angel Olsen is one of the most amazing artists of the past, I don't even know how the fuck long. She's an angel. God I love this woman.

Love the faint Gary Numan homage at the end.

Micah P. Hinson is amazing, but these two songs are just something else.

TW: These can be super fucking depressing, or cathartic.

Sorry I don't know where else to post these, and this seems the most fitting and only active one here.

So it's here now. For all of us...

I don't see how Händel doesn't fit here nowadays.

Amazing Cape Verdean legend. Amazing voice and amazing songs.

70's Korean Pop, like straight out of a Tarantino movie, or even something better. Similar vibe to something like Nancy Sinatra's "Bang bang". Amazing song. And for once a song like this isn't cut too short.

Also just perfect for a million hip-hop/beat samples.

PS. If anyone has any recommendations for something similar, from any country, I'm all ears. This sounds insanely nostalgic and this sound is familiar from so much hiphop as well as old songs, older anime I watched from worn out VHS tapes. I don't know what it is about this song. It's like the perfect distillation of so many different types of nostalgia.

PPS. Here's the whole album, I'm only halfway through, but this is full of bangers!

Love this song. Highly recommend the live show at Auckland Hall, it is brilliant.

Just transferred all of my subscriptions and blocks from my older, former main account on another instance and I have to say I couldn't be happier that Sopuli is not federated with lemmynsfw and such, my block list for communities was in the four figures over there and here it's hundreds and hundreds less. I'm so happy for being able to scroll All without having to play whack-a-mole with a billion porn communities most of which have and ever will only have the one active person. Every, goddamn, time. I literally had a mental checklist of searchwords I'd go through once a week or two and it'd be dozens and dozens every week and even that didn't cover it.

Just wanted to post if there is ever a question of whether to federate with instances like this. Especially as long as there is no way to block instances. It really makes a maaaasssive difference.

Even though we got a computer in the mid to late 90's, a shitty DOS-box that no-one kind of really knew how to do anything with, I was infinitely interested in anything to do with it. I remember playing Guerrilla Wars and some dungeon crawlers on it and such, but I feel like I almost entirely missed out on text-based games. I vaguely remember playing two, but I guess I was just excited about computer graphics or something that I didn't really care for them or the ones I tried just sucked.

I'm sure there's people here that have more experience with them so I ask you to bring forth all your favorite text-based adventures, regardless of genre. What classics should I go for?
