Sorry, your comment was just very vague. As a European, it is always interesting to follow these discussions from an outside perspective, be it here or earlier on Reddit.

It seems like US politics is all about owning the other party most of the time. It's amazing that for every issue, no matter how reasonable and clear-cut, there is always an opposing position that can be credibly argued for either side.

I would also often like to see discussions that focus more on substantive arguments and not so much on predetermined positions.

Care to elaborate? What community has been built on Mastodon and what should not be discussed on Lemmy? Politics? Or only US politics? Or criticizing Republicans?

Bedenke, dass es auch jetzt schon einen Höchstbetrag von 1.800€ monatlich an Elterngeld gibt. Das entspricht bei 65% vom Gehalt ca. 2770€ Netto im Monat. Von diesem Nettohöchstbetrag werden weitere Zuverdienste im Bezugszeitraum 1:1 abgezogen, was dazu führen kann, dass nur der Mindestbetrag von 300€ ausgezahlt wird.

In deinem Rechenbeispiel ist es also ein Unterschied zwischen ca. 4.500€ (+ Zuverdienste) bis 6.000€ aktuell und 4.200€ (+ Zuverdienste) zukünftig, was gar nicht mehr so dramatisch klingt.

Thanks for elaborating. I'm just generally curious what is being played in other countries. As a German, I always played lots of board games and I for myself prefer complex Euro games.

It's interesting that you distinguish between those café types since here in Germany, there is no such distinction. I only know boardgame cafés.

Zumindest bei mir stürzt die vorige Version von Jerboa beim Starten direkt ab. Die neue Version öffnet zwar, aber beim Anmelden zu feddit.de kommt die Meldung mit den Versionsunterschieden, so dass der Login abgelehnt wird.

Dann nutze ich für ein paar Tage einfach den Browser.

Ich war mal um 3 Uhr nachts in Alaska in nem Wal-Mart Supercenter, wo neben Shot Guns auch Autoreifen verkauft wurden und grade ne Mutter mit nem Kleinkind einkaufen war.

Man kann es sich wirklich nicht vorstellen, aber die Denkweise ist einfach völlig anders. Bei den Entfernungen wird vielleicht nur alle 2 Wochen eingekauft, dafür aber gleich gallonenweise Milch und kistenweise andere haltbare Lebensmittel.

Und die Center sind so groß, dass man sehr viele mit diesen Mobility Scooters fahren sieht. Da entstehen auch schon mal Warteschlangen. Dagegen sind selbst die größten Supermärkte bzw. Einkaufscenter hier in Deutschland winzig.

I totally get what you mean by lower entry barrier. In the end, that's also by design for LCGs. But the completionist in me looks at the price tag for the whole collection in horror (no pun intended). Maybe after what you wrote I still give it another try, so thanks for sharing your experience.

When you play SI for the first time on TTS, I highly recommend playing with someone who knows the game already. Scripts in TTS are nice and all, but it's even harder to understand how everything works when they are doing stuff so fast that you cannot follow.

Exactly. Maybe I'm sounding awfully optimistic, but I actually enjoy the slow pace here. Posts can be 1 week old and there are still comments popping up after a while. It also makes interactions more meaningful in a way.
