Moving the jaw without eating/chewing. So talking, singing and whistling.

Collecting is most of the fun

In this example the word 'and' could convey:

  • that the only parts of society affected are women and doctors (implies a finite list)
  • that the 'and' itself implies a 'we thought it was just affecting women, but it also affects doctors too?! Who knew?!'

The comma in this example provides a list effect, it's naming two groups but not implying that they're the only ones affected.

It's not loud is it?

I prefer the lack of association with that. The moment I think I'm doing a thing, the less interested I am in it.

I call it 'havin' a stare'. I just sit and either look into the distance or middle ground and do nothing. We don't get to do a lot of nothing as we get older, so when you get those moments it's nice to indulge in them. I'm not meditating, or being mindful, or any random words you want to use. Just havin' a stare.

My dog does this also, but his gaze is fixed on me and from the top of the stairs or round corners. It's very unnerving and not even remotely relaxing for me, but maybe he enjoys it.

David Thorne's website and books are great fun.

I have several of his books and when my partner and I go on holiday, I pack one for him as he doesn't read -ever- but said these don't feel like reading.

What a nuanced take

Was at dinner with my partner's family. His sister acquiesced to his niece when she demanded her phone 5 seconds after finishing her meal, and said nothing while the girl sat there watching loud videos. Nothing about 'hey we're in a restaurant' or anything about being polite and making conversation. She's 13. Has no concept of boredom or how to act around adults. Because there's zero requirement to.
