I just did this the other day too. Like other commentors have stated: it doesn't fully de-Amazon your kindle unfortunately. Still great, but one thing that bugged me for example was that even after jailbreaking I couldn't set custom screensavers without paying the $20 to turn off "special offers" mode.

Can you add a split tunnel for just the Chromecast app (I presume that's how it works idk I don't use Chromecast) so that just that specific app always ignores your VPN?

They mentioned they're running GrapheneOS, so most likely a Pixel of some kind. GrapheneOS has the strictest requirements I've seen of alternative phone OSes, but for good reason.
password-store is a CLI app to store passwords and even supports OTP.
Please do not use the same manager for your passwords and OTPs. That defeats the purpose of multi-factor.
