I am not sure if it's a boy or girl, too much of a child, i lean towards girl from its behaviour, but yeah too young, still makes chick sounds.

I googled for a reference, i assume the football player, haha.

As it stands, I'm embarrassed to tell people what I do in my spare time (run an instance and interact on Lemmy).

Oh man i feel that, i was telling and recommending people IRL about lemmy in summer 23. Not doing that anymore ๐Ÿ˜…

That is awesome to see (son of) Chalkie after some years again! Would make my day.

What a cute spot they have there.

[โ€“] bonjour@mander.xyz 4 points 3 weeks ago

Alright, I had no idea. Very cool.

[โ€“] bonjour@mander.xyz 3 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Oh wow, nice. Did you happen to just spot them or were you on an expedition to find them?

[โ€“] bonjour@mander.xyz 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yes, usually life long couples.

Some more Alfie & Maria from the weekend. They have kids who are doing their first flights right now.

[โ€“] bonjour@mander.xyz 2 points 3 weeks ago

Eww, oh, ok. ๐Ÿ˜ Still a super good idea.

Iโ€™m packing the bike and off

That is a super good idea ๐Ÿ˜€ If you do, please post or crosspost something to !bicycle_touring@lemmy.world. First weeks of September i'll be on my bike again too, looking forward to that.

That looks so sweet. Are there already bears in the area or do they stay on slovakian side ๐Ÿ˜…

[โ€“] bonjour@mander.xyz 4 points 3 weeks ago

Really like that city as a visitor.

Hm, yeah was just a guess. I could not live with screeching brakes either, the horror of riding a screeching loaded bike down a high alpine pass ๐Ÿ˜

A photo from a few weeks ago. According to the poo it left, it stayed around for about 3-4 nights. Have not seen it yet, hope it's doing fine. The other balcony locals are there, and i am going to have new pigeon babies on my balcony in a week, Martha and her partner are sitting on eggs ๐Ÿ™„ I've checked the eggs but they are a few days too far in development for my ethical compass to still swap them for fakes. Very well hidden.

One parent was just there to feed, that's how i saw them. It was doing a good job of feeding both, because it was sitting on the thin dark steel beam and could only feed the one that was closest, but then flew away for a second to land in between the chicks and feed the other one, which seems to have some feather condition on its neck.

Under the terrace roof of a cafe again. Hope they don't get hurt falling off that beam before they're ready, the feeding excitement looked really sketchy.

I am not sure if this can even be called a pizza crime because it's available in almost any pizzeria in Italy, may even be listed under the "classic pizza" section. I don't remember seeing this one at home and i have always been kinda keen to order it but never dared to.

So now I saw it in a focacceria and figured this was my chance - just a quick transaction, then I can eat it alone, somewhere where nobody sees me ๐Ÿ˜

Well, it was a bit underwhelming tbh. I might have to try it again with freshly fried fries, in a pizzeria, and eat it before the eyes of everybody else.

Well it looked juicy, fruity, sugary to me, I did not try it. In this hot, dry, rocky landscape, this juicy wonder really sticks out.

Location is Sardinia.

At the right spot, with enough time and.. construction material, the pigeon nest can grow into something a lot more serious looking than the famous meme nests.

There are nests up to 30-40cm in height at that place.

Zero Scare Crow (infosec.pub)

cross posted from !crows@lemmy.ml

There is this little crow at Piazetta Savoia in Cagliari who left its nest a bit early two weeks ago. The staff of the surrounding gastronomy fed it and now it is absolutely not scared of people and hangs around there. Doing all kinds of dorky baby crow stuff. Really crazy to see, never seen this before. It made me jump just now, as it nibbled on my sandals as I am writing this.

I passed by here earlier in the morning and was glad to not see it here, so it does seem to have a bit of a life outside of the Piazetta.

I am no crow expert, but I know that it quite often happens that crows leave their nest too early and then keep sitting on the ground. That does not mean the parents don't care for it anymore, but they may still be feeding it. So I would not just pick up a sitting baby crow before observing if the parents are still there for it. It could take a couple hours though.

Hello. There are (at least) two rock doves hidden in this picture. Can you spot them? ๐Ÿ˜

It's all over the place here in Sardinia, makes it all look so nice.
