Because they want to mine their platforms for more profit at the expense of their users/customers. It's just how capitalism works.

If you look back over history corporate changes like this tend to happen in waves. like for example a few years ago Disney and Warner Brothers and HBO etc. all took their programmes off Netflix and created their own platforms at around the same time. This is because they are all copying each other. One corporation thinks up a new way to harvest money from their consumers and all of that corporation's competitors do the same because they don't want to miss out on all that cash.

Reddit is pushing their third party apps out of business because they want to force their users onto only the official reddit app. Probably they also have a plan to further monetise their app in the near future as well (e.g. way more ads or paid subscriptions tiers that unlock more features). Youtube closed down all the third-party apps because people were using them to get around the ads, and YouTube wanted to force more and more ads and also the subscription service because that's where they get their money from.

Literally the only reason they do it is to increase profits.

Probably from entering politics.

Which apps are doing this by the way?

I wonder why.. Could it possibly be that he's trying to emulate Trump in order to become president himself, even though he lacks all the charisma (and that's saying something) and really just comes across as a weird creep fascist looser who literally nobody likes.

Also this community is technically specifically not for US-based news.

I've heard of that conspiracy theory before, but never looked into it. That collection of evidence is quite damning...

Obviously it's impossible to say conclusively – and the only people who would be able to find out the answer are the reddit admins.

I think that's the case with a huge amount of things that casual conservatives don't like. They would actually agree with a lot of leftist/socialist ideas, but they just can't get past the bad associations they have with the names of those ideas.

You could probably get most regular (non rabid) conservatives to agree that big businesses not paying any taxes is bad, and that politicians should not be allowed to take ~~bribes~~donations, and that billionaires have too much influence on politics etc. etc. but as soon as you mention the word socialism they immediately run away and continue to vote for politicians who favour tax cuts for the rich.

Let me guess... They'll be punished with a fine? Fines aren't punishments to big companies, they are just the cost of doing business! When companies do crimes the board members need to be locked up! and not for like a week/month, for like several years with no opportunity to get out early due to being rich!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventures proposes a couple of interesting . One villain has a power called "The Lovers" he manifests a tiny ,almost microscopic, insect creature which is physically very very weak (or at least the weakest we have seen at that point), but has the ability of going crazy whenever the stand user feels any kind of pain, so he sends the stand inside an opponents ear to their brain and pain centre – whenever he feels any pain The Lovers inflicts that same pain but much worse on his opponent. It's also heavily implied that any pain caused by The Lovers that is above a certain level would be lethal.

Super weak power that is actually really strong if used intelligently.

In the British TV show Misfits there was a villain who had the power of limited telekinetic control of milk (and cheese), he literally managed to successfully kill all but one of the main heroes (including the guy whose power was the ability to resurrect himself!). He was only stopped because of time travel by the one hero who was also lactose intolerant.

No-one said he is a Nazi, just that he's a fascist. There are multiple different flavours of fascism – it isn't all literally shooting people in the head and ordering thousands of people into death camps, it can be more subtle and insidious than that.

Also worth mentioning that fascism generally doesn't start with the ethnic cleansing and mass murder, it starts with things like; scapegoating minorities, being overly tough on crime, and peddling misinformation. It takes quite a few years for the fascists to gain enough power to be able to enact the kind of policies that are generally pretty unpopular among normal people.
