Been watching a bunch of dumbphone era TV and I gotta pay my respects to voicemail for being such a good fit for audio-visual storytelling. It doesn't just tie together disparate sets elegantly, it turns characters into in-universe narrators, and answering machines can themselves become plot points in a way that just wouldn't make sense anymore (e.g. on Breaking Bad, Jesse leaving an incriminating voicemail to the White family landline phone, but Skyler hears it instead of Walter). An automated "Voicemail inbox full" message is also such a powerful line.
I can understand where you're coming from, but I think you haven't done your research. You aren't as well-informed as me, who is smart and intelligent. If not, how come I'm right and you're wrong!?
