I saw that thread too, but this narrative is such cope. I want to see it as much as anyone, and we are making progress, but idk how people got from "biden's polling dropped a good few points, this will probably cost him the election" to "nobody under 45 is going to vote for biden". I still think younger people who can't be cowed into voting for biden by the time november rolls around are in the minority (though it's incredibly heartening to see that minority grow by the day.)

I have thought about this but not found a ton of great stuff out there.

I did recently run across this while working on setting up a FOSS calendar service though: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%253Awe.riseup.net%252Ftech-autonomy%252Binfrastructure (linking google because they don't seem to be browsable on site without an account, but the individual pages are public.) It has guides for configuring, hardening and using various web infrastructure tools and open source software.

It's run by a larger organization here: https://riseup.net/

They seem to frequently link to resources (especially ansible roles) by this group: https://github.com/AnarchoTechNYC

yah, I've been kinda curious but I try to stay light on kitchen gadgets (I don't even have a microwave) so I haven't really tried one in earnest. Being able to cook beans from dry would be huge I think, especially in terms of going im-vegan , so maybe I'll finally do it next time I see one used for cheap. Get rid of the useless air fryer someone gave me last year (I mean I have used it a couple times but I don't think its for me, and this one is mega shitty/cheaply made)

I think by the time I got invested enough to go to protests most of the turbolibs had gone home, so it was a lot more DSA adjacent. Still felt pretty useless though, especially hwo they shepherded everyone out after an hour or two "in case it gets violent" or whatever the official reason was. the emphasis on big, safe, mostly useless marches was a disappointment even at the time. I mean fine that they have that, and I guess the dsa chapter doesn't want to get raided by the fbi for getting too spicy, but it felt really pointless to go out and just leave before the hogs could even show up. I guess street brawls aren't that productive either but idk, you have to offer something besides provably ignorable street marches

if he watched 4 hours a day it would take almost 2 months to repeat

idk about wifi ones specifically but wasnt the issue with those more the fact that they saturated the market and anyone who wanted one either already had one or could basically just get one in perfect condition secondhand from someone who didn't use it much? I mean its kind of a gimmick, but not nearly as much as other kitchen gadgets

yeah. fetterman was the last one to get a big media push like "hey look at this guy he's progressive or whatever" and even with him it was a pretty thin veneer. Now he's one of the worst

Counterpoint, these uprisings are also happening at state schools that are full of normal people, including people with decent or good politics. The stupid ivys just get news coverage

I've recommended catbox in the past but I'm realizing it might not be the best host for our purposes. It has been blocked in some countries/by some ISPs ( see my comment below ) and technically the auto-embed that hexbear is doing is maybe a violation of their tos? the use is not for profit though so I doubt there's a huge issue/much the owner can do about it besides banning individual users by IP but still

Also worth noting they don't remove exif data

Now I kinda just wish small videos could be uploaded to hexbear. I guess there's tankietube too but that's another can of p2p worms since he turned p2p on by default. there's a way to get a direct link out of peertube that isnt p2p I think but that's not very user friendly

turns out some countries/ISPs have blocked it because of either copyright, the usual censorship, or lack of moderation.
