Did they have a "reason" this time or did they just take over it? And congrats to the mod who made it private again. This is the way.
I don't think protesting or creating backlash could change the behaviour of the mods (spez has been caught editing users comments before, for example). But I do think that angering redditors could ultimately be good, because they will start looking for other alternatives to Reddit. The only real way to hurt the company is a mass exhile by the users that generate the content.
I've been using Arch as a daily driver in my main PC. I have other PCs where I tried Manjaro and Arcolinux. I have also made a few VMs with Gentoo, but I don't think I'm ready to daily drive that. And lately I've been looking at Fedora, I would like to try that and see if I install it on a PC.
I will keep it and see. If Reddit decides to roll back the API changes and starts listening to the community, I'll probably keep using it. But if they don't, I'm conflicted. Deleting it would be nice, because they lose their interactions, posts and data, which is what makes them money. But there are also some posts with important answers to niche questions, and the random stranger looking that questions up in 3 years would also be affected. So for now, I'll probably leave it abandoned and I'll see if I delete it when they make some more stupid changes.
It's not the best experience in the world, but I like it more than the official Reddit app. At least it works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
