There are seven more iterations of the "Hawaiian Bowl" at Miyagi; I'm getting the salmon today.

I agree on both points about graphene, but I don't think graphene makes Google open software; if you removed all of the pages of a trump biography and put in the pages of LOTR, you would probably enjoy the book immeasurably more, but that wouldn't make the removed pages any good.

You're right, it is funny how easy it is to remove Google from Google devices.

You can flash custom ROMs on the g54; I haven't done it yet because I like the moto system so far, basically how barebones and functional it is.

The annoyances will have to build up before I replace anything. So far the only one I found is in speech to text, the microphone dings when it turns on and I can't turn the sound off. Yet...

I can live with that though, this thing is so much faster, more responsive and customizable than my pixel that I haven't noticed any of the flaws yet.

I have written out a very long list of all my problems with the pixel I had and this thing basically has none of them so far that I've found.

Motorola was the last company I looked at while I was researching new phones, but they are certain to be near the front of the line next time I have to jump on the merry-go-round.

Ha, KingoRoot is what worked for my HTC One! I was shocked and after I got rid of all the bloat it was like a new phone.

Facebook is such a hog.

That Ubuntu guide looks promising. I use Ubuntu and am a huge fan of copying and pasting commands that improve my machine.

Ahhh, that's great, a good getaway beats all. How did you decide on lauterbrunnen?

I haven't visited the swiss yet, and I've only heard good things, and I love the mountains.

I'm very happy to hear you've both come this far and I wish you all the best in the future.

Do you often celebrate your anniversaries with a big party or as more private affairs?

And what did you get up to this year?

Oh, and how did you make it this long?

Super cool of them.

I definitely wouldn't go over to apple, they're the same way in terms of a closed environment kind of thing.

Google is full of shit metoo; I had a pixel and it was the most infuriating phone I've ever had, I felt like I had been tricked into an apple (or apparently Samsung).

I got a Motorola g54 recently new for 150 bucks: almost no bloatware, easy to uninstall the few apps that there are, including Facebook, disable animations and the phones operations are fast, expandable storage, esim, there's all the features and way less bs for a much lower price.

Moto has pricier options with more stuff, but this phone cost... 25% of the pixel 6 at launch for more storage and ram, higher refresh rate, and I already like it a lot better after a couple days than I ever liked the pixel because of their closed hardware and software environment.

And the poor build quality, I had to replace my pixel and then the second one had something rattling around inside and I just figured it wasn't even worth waiting for them to send a third piece of shit out.

Sorry, since we're ranting, I'm so happy to have parted ways with the pixel.

I'll look into the Samsung thing a bit more when I have time.

I bricked htcs and an oppo and there's always some way around those startup loops, especially if the phone is otherwise functional and it's just one barrier to work your way around.

It looks like that FRP thing has a lot of videos and threads about it, I'd be shocked if somebody hasn't figured it out.

And droidkit I was thinking of a different route kit that I used to fix HTC, so I can't really speak to Droid kit.

Stick in there, a brick is worth a few attempts at alchemy if you like the camera that much.

something to try:

https://share.google/gefw0PBnuz6kb3E6D

I see several threads and even YouTube videos when i search for the problem "samsung s21 wont boot without Google login", I'd suggest working your way down the list.

best of luck.

this teaches you how to use droid kit to bypass the lockout, apparently

and the red pandas!

they're like fox colored raccoons, they're super cool.

that is a very cool habitat, nicely maintained forests and pathways.

I was pretty thrown when I saw a dozen of these little orange fellas strolling around.

Sushi rice base, avocado, salmon with eel sauce and ginger on the one and tuna with truffle oil and sesame seeds on the other.

inside a crispy nori taco shell.

I keep going to this place and forgetting to take pictures because I devour the food, but I really can't sing their praises enough.

So crazy good.

that sounds really fun, I want to play stratosphere or earthquake mode.

I'm going to try installing it.

I can certainly agree about Google, I can't believe the poor quality of their phones/software compared to pretty much everything I've bought abroad.

and I'm on the same page as you with hardware specs these days.

and the OS options, ha.

I prefer front-facing speakers, my hardware requirements seem to be mostly taken care of with modern phones here(8gb ram, newer snapdragon, expandable storage) for $200-300.

I buy phones infrequently and haven't heard of most of these new companies so I'm curious what people recommend these days.

you use it professionally? I'm always surprised more people aren't using it. or at least I'm not hearing about it more.

I started using the app years ago, and after exploring the app over a few days, I was always confused how it wasn't the number one free choice for many digital artists, but then I'm not really in that sphere as more than a hobbyist.

infinite painter still seems unfairly and almost bafflingly relegated to a rather obscure user base, despite having such a comprehensive toolset.

do you use a stylus and a tablet? I just use my finger, but I've considered getting a stylus specifically for IP. maybe if it becomes more than an unpaid hobby.

[–] bitofarambler@crazypeople.online 2 points 5 days ago (3 children)

oh yes, i see! thanks, I almost always use soft pen. I expect the challenges will help me become acquainted with the other tools better, which is definitely a weak point of mine; not taking full advantage of such a useful app.

I really like infinite painter, and I think you're the first other person I've known who uses it.

your painting came out great, those two peaks in the background give a necessary sense of depth to your piece.

where are the challenges in the app?

whatever that thing is from "it follows".

between its relatively slow speed and finite time limit, I could make it a day.

relentless isn't really a problem for a 24-hour time limit.

can't wait for the sequel.

I go for a walk everyday and had no idea there was a little park on a hill right in the middle of the city with this view. Nice to find something new after a couple months

The dollar store was having a three-for-one sale on snacks, so I picked up some popcorn and crackers and shared them with the crab eating raccoons who inhabit the Pacific Coast here in Panama City.

usually a few of them will show up but with three bags, I created too much of a simmering excitement, so I'll have to share snacks at a moderate pace and then move along down the coast and find a couple other raccoons next time. there were double the amount in that picture swarming the area, although none of them were acting aggressive.

the raccoons are quite tame and polite, and you can see locals with their children feeding the raccoons every day.

one got down on the ground and tugged on my pants with his little paws.

if you hold out a snack, they don't bite it away from you, they take it from you with their hands and then eat it.

it's awesome.

Fishermen, the Pacific, some tourists, chicharron/snack stands, and I've never seen Panama city from this perspective.

too many tattoos? not enough?

been working on a few SW character parodies/tributes/fun stuff lately.

more pics in body.

I didn't recognize it at first, just saw a large white shape I thought might be a fin or a tail originally because of how wavy it was, but then I realized it was a big ol' manta ray!

I tried starting from the beginning a few years back but the production value is a little too rough for me to ignore its flaws since I have no investment in or dedication to the show yet.

I'm wondering if I can watch lower decks or whatever the new live action show is and get into Star Trek that way.

I was looking for a Nintendo 64 controller on craigslist and found a misplaced ad for teaching English in China.

Completely changed the course of my life, I've been traveling ever since.
