You don't really need your server to. You can join a community from any server.

Welcome! It's a bit rough around the edges here but the devs are making changes every day and the community is better than I thought.
Which browser? It works correctly for me on Safari and I think I've done it on Firefox.
Well yes that's true. Most instances are federating to most other instances though. And you can always go directly to that instance's site and view everything. Just won't be able to interact
You can do that too, but you can also take the whole URL with https:// and all and it will take it just fine. I prefer telling people that as copy/pasting is easier than telling them to edit it into a specific format
Yes but FMHY will be the server that's showing you the content, which means less requests to lemmy.ml
Probably well under 1% of people who read content interact with it, so it's not a big deal to only send interactions to lemmy.ml
Your instance will only get NEW comments after the moment the first person on your instance subscribes to this community. You'll only get older comments if someone replies or votes on them
Need to be logged into lemmy.one, then search for the url of the community. Just copy and paste it. It might say no resulted found, but then go to the communities tab and search again
You'd only need a new account if you wanted to make a community on another instance.
You can be a moderator of a community on another instance.
Oh hey thanks
It's not actually released yet. It's not quite ready for general use but they're working hard on it.
